Speaking as the one Gen X guy who bought Instapump Fury Boosts: The old Pumps used a huge button that would inflate a lot each time you slightly pressed it, these new Pumps use a tiny button that requires many hard, slow presses - take your time to fully depress the button repeatedly over the course of 40 sec-1 min, then you will feel a notable difference.

I found that they pump better if you hold a finger over each 'p' in the pu mp lettering, there are 2 holes there and covering them up must help

I’m saying this because it was all performance shoes. I remember trying the Reebok punk pump on one time and the tongue wrapped all the way around you so when you pumped it up was the fore foot that just felt amazing. the Nike pump was the one that was able to blow up the back part Achilles and heel area. Self pumping. I love the fact that we have the shoe but I want people to know what hexa lights felt like I want a functioning pump

I've ordered every colorway since they started releasing them and all of The Pump systems work. I think a lot of people aren't pumping them right. Two holes, each located in both P's of the word "Pump". If you pump it up covering both of these holes, which I think a lot of people are doing.. it won't inflate. 1 or both of those need to 'breathe' to be able to draw in air for the bladder to inflate. Sooooo good. Back in 91 when I first started by playing for my high school this was my favourite show to hoop in. Watching D-Brown win the dunk contest and then trying to emulate his final dunk. So many memories. I missed out on getting a pair on the re-release here in NZ but I'll definitely keep hunting. Big ups to Weartesters though. Love the channel.

I was so excited to see the return of the Pump. I've had Omni Lites, I've had Twilight Zone Pumps. But I've never had this version of the Pump, so I had to have it, and thanks to Finishline I do. Great shoe. Cool piece of Reebok history. Love Reebok retros.

I've gotten to check out a couple of pairs of these Omni Zone 2 and the quality has been consistent. The pumps all did function. The trick I found was to pump all the way up once while in hand (you'll feel the flat disk behind the tongue become a little bubble of air). It takes like 50 pumps. Once you air out that first time I find it takes less pumps after that. It's not as good as it was when I had my Blacktop Battlegrounds back in the 90s though (could pump the hell out of those). Please retro those Blacktops again, Reebok!

I have the red reebok twilight zone pump and I remember getting comments from old heads it's cool, lacing them up and then pumping them before playing a pickup game 🙌 I just love how they wrap around the ankles and feel like tanks! Nostalgia to the max

The original was like a bee hive or honey comb, inside it had liners to guide the air or whatever was in them, way way more comfortable than anything releasing now.... and you're correct it was in the tongue as well

Also, I am 26 so I am right on the edge of the age group that will appreciate these. As a kid I watched a bunch of classic basketball highlights and Dee Brown pumping these up then slamming down the win in the dunk contest was so iconic! Plus when John Cena first came out when I was young as the rapper persona he wore these in the ring which made an 11 year old me super interested in these beautiful things!

Ok, love this video! It brings back memories of Reebok's basketball lineup from the 80's and 90's, which was hella good! I had a pair of these, as well as the Reebok Instapump Vertical, the Reebok Aftershock(which Shawn Kemp wore for a while), as well as the Reebok Icepick and the Reebok Triple Deuce! Reebook was great during that time, it's a shame that they couldn't keep it going. I will have find a pair of these just for the memories, lol. Dope work, as always!

I used to be all reebok growing up going into the 1991 pumps i got for christmas. the pump broke and we took them back to foot action and they didn’t have my size to replace them. the employee offered to swap them with unreleased what we now know as the jordan 6s! i was really popular at school that year 🙂

I had one Pump back in the day. As I remember the air bladders went to approx. where the laces are, all around (but not in the heel). I know because they fell apart after a summer of blacktop streetball :) But the pump system still worked fine, with the rest of the shoe (apart from the mid/outsole and of course the tongue) completely destroyed.

A few models had a bladder in the heel. And yeah, those blacktops are fire. I've still got two pairs from the 15th anniversary drop in 2004/2005. Best quality retros I have ever bought, by far!

I had a pair of Omni Zones back in 1992. The Pump system was a real thing in the originals; at least mine worked perfectly and had to stand up to a 12 year old kid pumping them up and down over and over again. The air 'bladder' covered the tongues and some of the sides. The air bladders were a lot more extensive in the Omni Zone's big brother the Twilight Zones; those were highs though like the Command force not mids ( and were serious money). Mine were white with purple accents with ERS rather than hexelite. It's a shame they haven't properly done the pump systems for the retro. The most recent Shaq's I had also were lacking.

The first couple of models shoes featuring The Pump had heel and tongue bladders. You would think that some random factory in Asia would probably supply the bladder system. But the initial The Pump bladders were all developed, patented, and manufactured by a company called Dielectrics, located in Chicopee, Massachusetts (a town next to the Basketball Hall of Fame location, Springfield MA)

Reebok Pumps only pumped an air bladder in the tongue, though later versions had the pump on the side & pumped air into the body of the shoe much like the OG Nike Pumps did.

The first few pair's had full foot air bladders. They only moved to the tongue/midfoot to reduce the price of the shoes. The 89 pump, twilight zone, pump 2 hi, cxt, pump Graphite, all had full foot pumps before this omni zone 2 released. I consider myself a pump historian and luckily I own just about every pump ever released. Not every colourway, but every model. 👍
