As a former EMT, the first thing to do in a case like that is "stop the burning." Cool water instead of cold is recommended, but water from the garden hose should have been fine. It would have also been bad for them to have done nothing, as the hot oil would still be cooking his face while waiting for the ambulance.
@ps3742493 жыл бұрын
Came down here to make sure someone said that running water over a burn is the correct thing to do. Maybe they got confused because you don't put water on a grease fire, and you don't put ice on a burn.

Watching this again after watching your most recent DV video 💔 God, this is f*cking heartbreaking. It's so hard to hear Reece talk about why you should "say no to drugs" then see who he has become in his active addiction. I always found it hard to picture Reece doing drugs. He seemed so well rounded and responsible. Seeing him being ab*sive towards you literally gutted me Jess 😔 I am so sorry. You are an incredible woman and mother and I am so proud of you! Thank you for inspiring other women to get out of unsafe relationships. You are saving lives

As a fellow burn survivor, I love how you can laugh at the dysfunction of it all while still taking it seriously. My accident was caused by a family member who was an addict (may he rest in peace). Recovery is a life long journey. A sense of humor, the ability to be introspective, listen, and share are essential parts of my survival kit.

I am laughing so hard at that, it's so wrong.... cos I'm remembering my brother on speed, acting like a twitchy ferret stuck on fast-forward. He had to rearrange my living room that he was sleeping in one end of, sort his computer cables according to god knows what crazy system that I'm sure made perfect sense to him at the time, adjust the formatting on a university assignment a million times and cook me brunch even though I begged him to just SIT DOWN because it was exhausting to watch... and then he nearly set fire to the couch and himself by crashing out while holding a joint. I was thankful that I was still awake to go and put it out before he'd done more than burn a hole in the quilt cover. He's in long-term recovery up to today, doing really well, and mercifully escaped without a blood-borne disorder or abscess (bless needle exchange programs forever), so I allow myself to find whatever amusement I can in it, though it wasn't at all funny at the time!

@@stormtrailer4146 absolutely! But like he has been through so much facial trauma and almost definitely has a lot of scarring and both of the injuries did a lot of tissue damage and people rarely look as good as he does after going through that stuff. Add that to the addiction in (both) their pasts and it is incredible they look so good still. Even if they hadn't gone through any of that they are good looking. But like thinking about how much they have gone through and still look this good is really incredible to me.

I'm so happy Reece seems so much more comfortable on camera now. Actually, I meant to post on your last video together - Reece reminds me so much of my very good friend (really family) Reece that sadly passed away a few years ago in Florida. Your Reece and my Reece look so similar, are both veterans, were in recovery, jail/prison, have the same sense of humor, and similar mannerisms. I always smile when I see something similar to my Reece, because it kind of helps me feel like this is how full and happy my Reeces' life could have been with all the work he put into himself before he passed away. My Reece worked so hard for his recovery and he was proud of it. He was killed 5 hours before his 3 year sobriety party. A group of us close friends wanted to do something that was a little more personal with him. Bike runs were our thing since we were little and used to steal other people's dirt bikes because no one could afford a real motorcycle back then. Figured it was another way to say we are thankful, blessed, and happy to finally be able to have this freedom, life, experience, love and chance with you again. My Reece was hit by someone in a truck on the interstate in Florida that day. 2 weeks ago was his birthday and in a couple weeks it will be his sobriety and death anniversary. I hope that didn't come across weird - I just see someone so similar to my Reece; from what you've shared he dealt with as well; I see, hear, recognize, and appreciate how much work you've done to have a happy, healthy life now. It's just nice to see that if Reece was still here and working as hard as he was, then he too would have had the chance to be happy, love things again and build healthy things in his life. I loved this one! You feel the seriousness, the humility and the ability to poke fun at who we once we're. The jokes had me looking like an asshole for cracking up like that in public lol.
