Jennie Reed Elementary School ends the school year with a bang - and a whole lot of clapping and cheering! On Wednesday, Reed had its annual last day “clap out.” It’s an event designed to send students and staff into the summer on a high note, and to celebrate the students and staff who won’t be back next year, including staff who are retiring or changing jobs and fifth graders moving on to middle school.
Retiring staff members lead a walk through the halls of the school, receiving claps and cheers from students and staff along the way, who then join the parade. Soon the whole school ends up on the school’s field, where they dance cheer, hold up encouraging signs for departing fifth graders, and give many, many high fives.
