The Rockets - who said he was their top prospect in the draft - selected the Kentucky G 3rd overall in last night's NBA Draft. Thoughts? #Rockets #HoustonRockets #ReedSheppard #NBA #NBADraft #Kentucky #KentuckyWildcats #KentuckyBasketball

Rockets could have address this shooting need by getting a tall 3-D wing from the second round. Matas Buzelis is better than Reed.

He will be a major factor this year if the rest of the roster are not able to shoot and get some baskets.

What’s with the glut talk? We have FVV and Jalen, that’s it, no other guards. Cams a SF, Amen is a SF.

Yeah that seemed like a dumb comment by Lance to me. I think he’s just down on the pick and is throwing everything out that he can to bash it.

Reed is a PG and he can fit right in behind FVV and Amen can play point forward when he is on the floor as well since Amen, Jalen and Sengun really need floor spacing and he is much better transition shooter than both FVV and Holiday

POP POP PING so goes the pre-draft hype every year and now the post-draft confusion... Chet at #2 in 2022...doh John, your praise for Stone is very warranted and I love it. Stone was the one who setup and ran the first Analytics Department in the NBA (under Morey, who got the media credit) and has been handling all the player contracts and Toyota Center management since 2005. I love him as the GM...He is a great out of the box thinker and way ahead of other GMs. Stone getting 8 first round assets for Harden set the league standard and now (after getting 3 quality players) he then flips 2 of the remaining 3 assets into 4 (for a total of 5 assets), while pushing them further out to 2029, which gives the Rockets more flexibility and also a shot at Booker...another genius move to go along with his 7 out of 10 success rate on his first round picks. 70% drafting success rate is the best I have seen since I have been a fan starting in 1972. I do not think you can name anyone better in any sport. Can You? BTW, the three late first rounders that did not make the cut, he flipped into Stephen Adams and the rights to an Euro big man. He also traded this year's #44 for the #16 2022 pick. Nothing wasted. Also, I believe the Harden trade will be known as the trade that keeps on giving and will go down as one of the best ever in the NBA. I say...ALL HAIL STONE Buckle your seatbelts Rockets fans...Stone has set us on a championship contending run of a lifetime.

Two of our best players ( Sengun and VanVleet) are/ were undersized for their position, and not great defenders. They do other things really well. Fred is 6'0" with shoes, so he's probably closer to 5'10"...I'm not sure if Alpi was even 6'10" when drafted...thought he was a little under that.

The more i watch Reeds film the more i like him. Hes really the one of the few home grown white boys drafted top 3 last 30 years **Luka Dončić** (Slovenia) - Drafted 3rd overall in 2018 by the Atlanta Hawks, then traded to the Dallas Mavericks. **Kristaps Porziņģis** (Latvia) - Drafted 4th overall in 2015 by the New York Knicks. **Enes Kanter** (Turkey) - Drafted 3rd overall in 2011 by the Utah Jazz. **Darko Miličić** (Serbia) - Drafted 2nd overall in 2003 by the Detroit Pistons. **Pau Gasol** (Spain) - Drafted 3rd overall in 2001 by the Atlanta Hawks, then traded to the Memphis Grizzlies. **Andrei Kirilenko** (Russia) - Drafted 3rd overall in 1999 by the Utah Jazz. **Raef LaFrentz** (USA, of European descent) - Drafted 3rd overall in 1998 by the Denver Nuggets. **Keith Van Horn** (USA, of European descent) - Drafted 2nd overall in 1997 by the Philadelphia 76ers. **Andrea Bargnani** (Italy) - Drafted 1st overall in 2006 by the Toronto Raptors.

Ime will quickly find that it's hard to not play Reed. Just like at KY, he wont be expected to contribute much immediately. Maybe in 3-4 years. But if you watch his games (not highlights but games) he just makes winning plays. Not flashy but consistent.

Luck has nothing to do with it... Udoka did not chose the Rockets over all the other NBA offers because he thought Stone was a lucky GM. These GMs worked hard and smart, which is what attracted these quality coaches.
