I really love the traitor part of the questline because its really cool how you can start to notice something off even before its revealed. And the signs are so subtle, you wouldn't notice unless you were paying attention to everything. The most obvious sign was the difference in icons for the dead drops, they look different once the traitor replaces them. Another sign is the fact that the notes now try to justify the killings like "This person did this so the person wants them dead" like..who cares, you're Dark Brotherhood, you'd murder a puppy if Sithis told you too so why is 'Lucien' giving you a motive. Another sign is as you said, the targets seem really strange, a lot of them seem like they would be great members to the Dark Brotherhood, a psychopath, a destruction master, a martial arts master, why haven't these people been recruited yet? And obviously there is the clearest sign if you talk to the Khajit that was a master martial artist, if you tell him you're from the Dark Brotherhood he says something along the lines of "What treachery is this!?" and I believe you can also find 'The Five Tenants' book in his house. All in all, its really cool how the game allows you to figure this out on your own without spelling it out, the only issue being that you can't bring this up to Lucien but I imagine it'd take a lot to write, record, animate and program a different branch for the quest and I don't know how you'd become the Listener in this version so its not really an issue, more like something that would have made it much cooler and would reward your deductive skills.

Such as, how the quest log description changes when you start getting the false contracts. (They no longer mention Lucien) or how the dead drop orders inventory icon changes, and how the font changes, too. And also, the demeanor within them seems off, too.
