eater of pants Honestly, I was just quoting the video. However, that's even worse if true (never played through the some of Skyrim's questlines because I found it very repetitive and non-immersive compared to previous Elder Scroll games). What's the point of a Thieves' Guild quest if you aren't stealing shit or sneaking into places you shouldn't be? Draugr tombs are pretty much ancient public cemeteries filled with monsters, so it's not like you can't be there so much as you shouldn't be there. Going into Draugr tombs is something you should be doing with the Fighter's Guild or (since they decided to boot the Fighter's Guild out for whatever reason) the Companions, not the Thieves' Guild typically.

One moment: The quests in this game are insanely good compared to Skyrim's. Literally a minute later: But the _fucking AI-_
@greensheep49185 жыл бұрын
And the dialogue. Quests aged VERY well. The story is still EXQUISITE. The music INCREDIBLE. Everything else........ Not so much.
@jamesmccloud75354 жыл бұрын
@@greensheep4918 Just bought the game like months ago and I actually like the AI better. It's broken at times but at least with the radiant AI, they can choose to steal, talk to different people, and have their own personal goals that they can achieve in multiple ways, makes the game immersive. In Skyrim I was tired of hearing the same shit over and over again. They have the same conversation everyday and it gets really annoying. Skyrim would've been the opportunity to improve upon that system with dynamic conversations but they just chose to get rid of it all together. The faces are still ugly like they were before but the graphics aged like fine wine. It had that painting style high fantasy feel to it and when wandering Cyrodiil along with the music, it felt absolutely magical. I hated archery in Oblivion when I tried it so I downloaded a mod deal with that so Skyrim did a better job on that one. Quests though? now that I played Skyrim and is now playing Oblivion I feel like the quests downgraded. The graphics improved of course but the mechanics like the class system, attributes, skills, the things you see in traditional rpgs, instead of again improving they replaced them or they just straight up removed them. Skyrim was for the first time my favorite elder scrolls game cause it was the only elder scrolls game I played. Seeing the criticisms of Oblivion and the "outdated" graphics some people say about it, I was hesitant at first. But seeing it on steam for sale at a very low price I decided to give it a try and see what all the hype was about. Doubting in my mind this can be better than Skyrim cause I thought Skyrim improved everything else in Oblivion and seeing all the funny memes about how broken it is. After playing it, going through the tutorial, seeing the world before my eyes, I thought wow this is beautiful. I still play it now and even though I started with Skyrim and loved it to death, I ended up liking Oblivion way better.

James Mccloud the thing is, that TODD lied abt the AI. False advertisement. The NPC’s go by scripts.
@jamesmccloud75354 жыл бұрын
@@lonewanderer1328 Not completely. And the characters do go by scripts. I think you're misunderstanding radiant ai here. It's not like they have 100% freedom over what they want to do, if they did well that would be like in terminator with skynet taking over the world and ai having a mind of their own. Of course not, it's a 2006 game what they meant by radiant ai is that they are scripted to do a certain task at a certain time but they sometimes can deviate from that based on a lot of factors. Which gives them the illusion of choice and makes them feel more alive and their actions natural. Did you know that before releasing Oblivion npcs had even more freedom of choice. But the devs had to cut it down a bit because it sometimes breaks questlines and makes weird situations although funny but annoying at certain times when they die. One example is let's say the npc is scripted to eat at this certain time. Almost always he will have some food with him to eat. But there is a chance that he will resort to pickpocket food and go into sneak mode. So he was presented with a goal but he had multiple choices on what way he would take to achieve that goal, he might even kill someone for it which will lead to him getting killed by the guards. Todd when they were just making the game, all the things he had said about the radiant ai was actually true at that time. It is still true when it was released but the radiant ai has been toned down a bit cause it usually led to npcs becoming unpredictable and expressing irrational behavior to achieve the goal they were given. Mostly cause they kept dying to the guards XD. But when it was released we should be thankful that they did what they did cause it would have been an annoying thing but I kind of wished there was an option to implement it, could've been funny. The fact that this system was in a 2006 game and it hasn't been fully imitated in games today is such a feat on bethesda's part. That's why many hope it would make a comeback to es6 but better implemented. Here read this article to know more venturebeat.com/2010/12/17/dimming-the-radiant-ai-in-oblivion/
@lonewanderer13284 жыл бұрын
@@jamesmccloud7535 Oh pardon, I said the npc's do go by scripts. I've developed a familiarity with how the ai of the npcs work in the bethesda engine games over the past several years from back ground exposure experienced mod makers generate. Mod makers like the people that are making Tale of Two wastelands... That and looking a little into the data inside esps and barely in the construction set. When I said, their ai isn't radiant, I meant it as like what you pointed out at the beginning, the ai isn't as truly adaptive as todd marketed at the Oblivion tech demo. For, as we seem to be in agreement on, the npcs shown in the demo aren't an accurate representation of the published product. I see how multiple ai with the brain capacity enough to break quests would've caused an issue, but the false adverting jut wasn't welcome. I think a work around would've been to give the npcs their own ai after their scripting was completed and their quests were done. Thanks for the article btw, I'll take a look at it later on.

Okay so after 5 years and multiple reviews I figured out how those palace guards found out Autism cat while he was completely invisible, TL:DR it was the Astral Vapors. Astral Vapors (the desiease A-Cat caught it in the old way ruins) makes your magika no longer passively regenerate, so between healing and casting invisibility, will was slowly eliminating his magika reserve without noticing it or regenerating it. He ran out of magika not long before encountering that guard. So while he still had some time left on his invisibility spell and that prevented him from getting caught after failing that pickpocket attempt, you can see him try to cast invisibility again but get the "you do not have enough magika" prompt. Then his invisibility then ran out and the guard saw him. This then meant every guard in the building knew he was there, even though he made himself completely invisible again, because that's how oblivion works. So yeah folks, keep some cure disease handy because astral vapors is fucked, hope this helps.

I do have to say, besides the College of Winterhold, the guilds in Skyrim were all terrible. They all felt like shells of their former selves, especially the Thieve's Guild, with the Dark Brotherhood following it. Why do I have to kill people in the Thieve's Guild? Why is everyone in the same place? In Oblivion, the Thieve's Guild had a network of people throughout the world, but in Skyrim, they're all in a bar doing nothing. I never bothered to finish its questline. I can kind of forgive the Dark Brotherhood, but I still wish there were unique ways to deal with the situation Hitman style (in one quest in Oblivion you can drop a mounted head onto your target to kill him discreetly) in Skyrim, it consists of stab/shoot arrow at target

wait why exactly can you read the elder scrolls ? XD wtf If there is one thing you leanr in these games, it is that you cant just look at a scroll.
@jra76907 жыл бұрын
Emanuel Szadkowski You can read elder scrolls. After each reading the reader is temporarily blinded. The duration of the blindness is increases the more the reader reads an elder scroll. It's the prolonged reading that causes the eventual permanent blindness. The temple of the ancestor moths is full of monks that have went permanently blind from resding the elder scrolls for so long. So if the Dragonborn were to continue reading the elder scrolls he/she has in his/her possession than eventually he/she would go permanently blind.

What i mean: Like shown in Skyrim you cant just take a peek in the scrolls and put it away, once you look at it you get caught in some sort of memory or something similar.

I mean who's to say that every Elder Scroll acts as a portal into a memory or event from the past? I imagine, considering there's a library full of them, that they can't all have that uncontrollable and deadly magic power.
@SaintDorado7 жыл бұрын
Charles Kun I´m not sure, but I think the Character you play in Oblvion is not any kind of special, just a "normal" dude. In Morrowind and Skyrim thats different.

I'm nercoposting. Also, in Skyrim, when you steal something in front of the Thieves Guild, they don't report you, they will just say "I guess that's your's now", or "Don't worry, you can keep it". They also don't get hostile if you get caught pickpocketing them. Which is much more fitting considering they're literally called the Thieves Guild.
