I’ve always loved how you have a kind of ‘standing wave’ in that you’ve perfectly matched the resonance of the wave frequency of the tank so you get those beautiful life like waves. Awesome. I’m just setting up a new tank and your videos are sooo helpful. I’ve gone with 3 A3 Neros

Hi Mr Reef Dork. I love your vids, find myself bingeing them very often. I have a fluval flex 123 litre marine, currently running two jebao slw-10’s but could do with some more movement. Think I’m going to switch to gyres, but I’m torn between two jebao mcp-90’s or two mcp-70’s. Either will fit well, but which would you suggest? Keep up the good work buddy, fantastic channel! Cheers.
@ReefDork6 ай бұрын
I don[t like gyres personally - they clog up really quickly so you need to clean them all the time. I'd stick with normal powerheads...
@andrew5762 Жыл бұрын
Hi Alex what percentage do you run your powerheads at , as I’m struggling with polyp extension 😢Love the kalc 👌😃
@ReefDork Жыл бұрын
About 80% - I'd run them higher but they start to get noisy above 80

Love the new series! I am going to try the citric acid cleaning regimen, please could you let me know what amounts of each you use and where you get your crystals from? I tried to look on the forums and there are as always 400 different opinions... any help appreciated👍

I use stuff from ebay - search for item # JD0002246883302886. I just throw in whatever amount looks right but 50g per litre of water does a good job

Great video as always can you do a video about places you've used (that are reliable and good quality) to buy corals online in the UK,I know youve mentioned a few but I can't never remember them.

I rarely buy online but I've used Signature Frags once before and Prestige Reef will look after you.

I have 2 mp40's and it was too much flow killing my mixed corals. I tuned it down to 1% and forgot about it but I came to realize that one was defective where it does not slow down. No wonder my corals won't open up and just slowly die. Returned to manufacturer for repair. Long story short is I think it's better to get multiple Nero 3s and set all to just the right slow flow.
@sanimrai6545 Жыл бұрын
I don't think I'm getting enough flow for my corals, every time I tune my flow my fish gets blown by it. Should it matter? Thanks Love your vids

Try putting it in different places until you don't have flat spots. But adding another powerhead is usually much better

Hi I have a 100 litre tank with no corals yet. Would 1 Nero 3 or 5 be enough to generate a good flow ? I am adding corals in a few months so any advice would be good thank you
@ReefDork Жыл бұрын
2 is much much better - they'll keep detiturs from settling on your sandbed and causing algae and other problems. The Jecod SLW-10s are a great alternative to the Nero 3s.
@alaskacosplay2 жыл бұрын
When I used powerheads to create flow for my saltwater tank, I used powerheads for aquariums since the powerheads I use are really strong and I might have to get another one so I have one powerhead at two different ends of the tank so that the water will flow all around the tank. I made my mistake of using a dinky powerhead that came with my filter and I lost my Pearlscale Butterfly and my Coral Beauty Angel because the flow wasnt strong enough and there wasnt enough oxygen in the water.

What would you recommend for a 55G long/narrow? It's 48in wide, 12in from front to back, and 24in tall. Is it even a tank that could be considered for saltwater? Or is it better suited for freshwater?

Every time I put a powerhead in my tank it looks like to much flow and rips my coral apart I don’t understand why everyone says you need to get a bunch of power heads when I have a problem just trying to use one, I had to get the fluval cp1 for my 90 gallon because that’s the only powerhead that isn’t to strong
@jacksonhunnicutt42312 жыл бұрын
so you might not see this but i bought powerhead and i think its a bit to strong for my 30g i only have soft corals and im kinda worried about my zoas and pallys

Plus I have a been treating the tank with Poly-Lab Medic for white spot over the last 20 days, last day yesterday.
