Just another day at the office sailing around the world. Here I go over a quick mainsail reefing. For the entire story you can find my book on Amazon at: www.amazon.com/s?k=sailing+in...

Nice, good to see reefing videos in conditions that actually require reefing!

I used to use a reef hook, but then tried running tack lines through both cringles and stayed with that setup. Makes getting a grip on the luff much easier by just pulling on the line to get the sail down. I was surprised to see your slugs come free when you lowered the sail. I also have winches and reef line clutches on both sides of the boom. No third reef. I swap to trysail once the second reef is too much, then secure the boom so she doesn't dip. Great narration. Thanks for sharing.

Yeh I think there is room for improvement for sure. Though at this point it has become so normal for me to reef the sails that I dont even think about it. The third reef makes life so easy, it's so small I can keep it up in really heavy wind. After that I go down to just the storm jib, sheeted midship. Just holding on at that point!
