Just got mine last week. It definitely works, but if you have a Metabo HPT, you will need to add more height to the fence or you will be very limited on material thickness using the stock fence height. It is accurate, but some may think hitting zero each time after a cut is too much work….. definitely not faster than stop blocks, but amazing for those lacking space or the ability to have a full rail setup. Definitely a product I would recommend overall.

I take it if you remove the tool from the saw, you have to recalibrate right? Would that be the case for changing batteries?
@TheReformationWoodshop
@TheReformationWoodshop 2 жыл бұрын
Yes and yes. Calibration was super easy though so it’s not too inconvenient when it’s necessary.

So…if one attached the unit to the fence , calibrated, made the cuts then turn it off. Do you have to go back through the calibration process again to do more cuts later?
@TheReformationWoodshop
@TheReformationWoodshop 2 жыл бұрын
No sir! As long as you have it in place no calibration is needed whenever you turn it back on.

I'm limited to 73" left and 60" right because my workshop room is 10x10 with a small recess for a closet I converted to a pegboard wall on the left side. Apparently you need 6' on either side to calibrate correctly or you won't be able to use this device in your workshop. I messaged Reekon to see if they have a workaround; if not they need to list this in the product description so people can make informed buying decisions. Can't move my mitre saw station and years away from building a bigger workshop

Only concern is wheel loading up over time and changing diameter. Will be interesting to see if this is a valid concern over time. Otherwise look like a great idea.... and a ton cheaper than the pro one with the auto moveable stop...

My concern is if you have to calibrate every time you remove the caliber from the miter saw??
@TheReformationWoodshop

I’ve taken it off an put it back and it was exact with the following cuts. Although I’d still calibrate every time. It only takes about 10-15 seconds so it’s not much of a hassle.

What’s the 3 month takeaway?? How much use has it gotten? Is it still accurate? How long do the batteries last? Maybe a 3 month review video???
@TheReformationWoodshop
@TheReformationWoodshop 2 жыл бұрын
All good questions! I’ve used it in several recent videos and it’s still fairly practical for my shop. I haven’t had to replace the batteries yet but it seems to use the same amount of energy as any other common battery powered object so I’m sure I’ll have to change them soon. I’ll probably wait a little while longer to do an update.

Thank you so much for highlighting that we need to calibrate for blade width. I kept missing by 1/8th too, so I would manually extend it out by that offset. But, I love my M1 too! Works great!

the measuring mechanism should have 2 wheels and each should have its own measuring electronics. the difference in the measured values of the two wheels will be more accurate than the value of one measuring mechanism. ...i thing so....

When calibrating, Cut a little piece of to zero the saw, then, when making your 6 foot mark line it with the right side of the blade… No need to bother with the kerf offset

If it’s consistently inconsistent it’s a calibration issue. Contact Reekon and they’ll help you. The only reason I know this for sure is because I had the exact issue when I set mine up.

That's stupidly expensive for something that a $3 tape measure can do.

@@TheReformationWoodshop I def would have anticipated this being more than $150. That’s some really precise software with hopefully as equally thought out hardware. I don’t woodwork, but I’m really impressed with the accuracy of the tech.

He probably means it’s stupidly expensive for something you can do with a 12.00 tape. Then again my Martinez m4 is stupidly expensive to some.

It’s not about what it can do, it’s about the convenience and how cool it is. $3?? Man I can get a free one at harbor freight for free and measure but that’s not the point. Do I need it? No, do I like the screen? Heck yes! Id get it.
