Reel Time Review comparing the Lew’s TXS to the Abu Garcia MaxPro-Which is right for you?

My son has the Lews Xfinity combo and that reel feels like crap. It was fine for his first baitcaster though. But the reel feels so cheap. And it was. Hes getting the Abu Garcia Max Pro (latest 8 bearing version) for Christmas. I will get him a nice medium-heavy rod to pair it. I think it'll be a nice upgrade. Thinking of the Veritas med-heavy for him. He will use the Lews yet in the boat for multi bait use but the Abu will be his first choice. Im confident it'll be an upgrade.

The ABU Garcia Max X and STX this will look good with them Max pro in medium heavy rod also for the one I like to use in my pown has mad grass everywhere to punching though and pull plastic though also. My nex max pro. Most combo are medium power where I live need to order the medium heavy rod combo. Good review of this combo. I do like Lew's combo also $125 is good for me. Or clearance ⁉️🤔 is good also.

I looked and looked for the lews txs baitcast combo with the this rubber knobs but all I can find is the big round foam knobs.

Every year they change them, I like these knobs way more then the foam style ones. I just posted a video of the Hack Attack combo and it’s my new favorite it’s so smooth and for 100-125$ it’s amazing.

Just got the abu....I can remove the tension nob and my lure still won't fall any faster! Am I doing something wrong

Are you using a light weight lure? Smaller then like 3/8 if not it might be a bad reel. It happens to a lot. Sometimes they are just seated correctly. Open the side cover take the spool out put a few drops of oil on the inner bearing while you are there and then put it back together and see if that works. If not take it back, they are usually easy to setup. Let us know if this helps Cheers
