This is straight from DAR’s holomua 30x30 page: “DAR monitoring data, recent surveys confirm that members of our community have also observed declines over the past several decades in many nearshore places, and perceive these changes will get worse if we don’t take action soon. “Effective management” is not possible based on scientific data alone.” DAR is saying that their surveys is enough evidence to take effective management now. If you see that your areas are adequately managed and is healthy I would express that on these surveys because someone inexperienced and don’t understand the ocean and fish could say “I don’t see any fish” and they will empower DAR to make more stringent regulations. What is “effective management?” The other places that are managed have resulted in complete bans. In case you haven’t heard, they already closed the last public gun range on Oahu. That will definitely have a major effect on future generations of hunters. Taking away herbivore species will have a major impact on future divers.
