I wish Ska was still big. Sublime, this band, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Madness, Supervillains, Less than Jake, etc spanned a particularly good era of my life and it's therapeutic listening to it.

26 years ago our 13 year-old daughter and son learned that Real Big Fish were playing one-night only in Lille, France. In a small club. We lived in Paris at the time. They were so excited, bouncing off the walls. I said, Do you really want to go? They said YES. I said, You both have to go to school tomorrow. They promised. I said, Let's do it. We rented a car and drove 2 1/2 hours to Lille. Show started at 9pm, we had just enough time. While they were in the club, we had dinner down the street. The show ended around 11:30. About 35 people at the club and the band was really glad someone was speaking to them in English. They had a ball. They were on a cloud the whole ride back. We got home between 2 and 3am. They went to school the next day. And we were "the best parents ever" for years to come.

Ska is reguee just fasted up ... and i came afther it
@jaywilliams7205 жыл бұрын
ale moya maybe if you only focus on american ska but the first ska came from the caribbean in the 50s and it was an attempt at mimicking american blues and jazz but with elements of traditional caribbean music. reggae was kind of parallel to it though as it became a genre very quickly after ska became popular so arguing over which came first is kind of pointless. technically, reggae was slow ska though
@FranciscoGomez-dn8py5 жыл бұрын
Correct
@chileanguyfleegman19085 жыл бұрын
Ska was the norm in Jamaica and it was danced every summer all around Kingston. One summer was so hot that they couldn't dance as fast as usual so they had to slow it down, and thus reggae was born.

One of my favorite covers of all time. Who the fuck doesnt know A-ha did the original? The video for the original is classic. Its been in movies, commercials, tv shows throughout the years. In my opinion if a band covers a song, that is giving the other band credit. Besides, RBF is a cover band, they do lots of covers. Most ska bands do tons of covers, its part of the genre.

george harris Yeah.... That's because metal kinda sucks in terms of producing a song that is enjoyable (i.e. usually vocals are terrible, and the song's tempo is far too fast, and the end product usually ends up sounding like garbage, not to mention there isn't as much musical instruments as ska bands have).
