one of the best short films I've viewed... profound!!! This video has no expiration date.. Imagine if tenants who are in situations like this can GO to their landlords and ask them to view this WITHOUT the RISK of them being being EVICTED as some landlords may NOT see the POSITIVE MESSAGE, and focus ONLY NEGATIVE thinking their TENANT(s) are trying to tell them how to manage THEIR PROPERTY. smh

With the advent of the latest infusion of gentrification funding (Federal Opportunity Zones) this is a very timely revival of this old film for a new generation. Charging social studies teachers in urban schools to include this as a part of their lesson plan. It is a great lesson with permission to take control and do, rather than be done to when it comes to neighborhoods.

They don't talk enough about how landlords are responsible not just because of the jacked up rent prices (that they use to make income while they sit on their asses) but because they don't care about property and don't take care of what they own or participate in the community. And these days special interest groups leverage their influence to get zoning regulations passed that result in housing scarcity. This aged about as well as mayo in the sun

Can I ask a serious question? Why was this film displayed on the Reelblack channel? Was it shown to black audiences? The only thing I can think of is that it is a warning to audiences that neighborhoods can only become gentrified if the people in those neighborhoods allow it to fall into disrepair.
@eclipseRz2 жыл бұрын
I imagine the need to use white characters to get the point across, as using minorities would've made those living outside poor neighborhoods assume stereotypes. This is the same issue but nowadays they make it too hard to meet in person with long work hours and lack of spaces to gather large swarths of people to demand change. They've built our towns and cities against us and designed the internet to pit everyone against each other, but ultimately the problem comes down to groups uniting to improve their community together rather then relying on those in power to do so

Beautiful old buildings demolished. Zoning and building codes jacked up the price of construction and restoration, gradually leading to the massive homeless problem we have today. The ideas behind this cartoon have lead to disaster.
