I have loved these guys on Sanford and Son but never knew they were a stage team. I am sitting here literally in a pool of tears laughing so hard.

The routine with the doll was done by Pigmeat Markham in the early 60s. In either case, Skillet and Leroy was a prime example of low grade, funky, ghetto juke joint comedy before the likes of Def Comedy Jam. Redd Foxx did his duty by reaching back and bringing his old chitlin circuit colleagues such as S&L, Slappy White, LaWanda Page, etc along with him when he hit the big time as Fred Sanford.

Thanks a zillion your great Black Creativity videos from the past. It shows how great it was to be Black before Martin L.King! I am from that time and I am ready to start my XXX comedy show with me being a solo stand up act. Sex comedy is the easiest way to unite different cultures. You are a very special angel to post such videos. Thanks, is not enough for all the insight, skill, wisdom, Black historical facts, and fantastic acting. This video is great for training on how to make a perfect fool of oneself. I love and needed it. I forgot about them.

WOW. I thought I’d NEVER see this again! I saw this in Harlem in the late 80s at the Adam Clayton Powell Building. They used to run films there. Thanks for postin. They were older here, (shoot, they were older then), but still very funny. Leroy and Skillet were from the old skool. I rather watch 2 old seasoned pros who KNOW their stuff then any of the new jacks coming up now. Hate to say it but this is MUCH funnier than Rudy Ray Moore’s entire “Rude” DVD.

If anybody wants to get LEROY in his early years, he went under the name "SLOPPY DANIELS" of DOOTO records. He later joined with SKILLET on LAFF records in the 70's!

My great aunt lived "around the corner" from Dootoo's, which she told me was a record shop on the corner of Central and Vernon avenue in the 70's. It was the spot and everybody who was anybody hung out there and Skillet and LeRoy came by that record shop often even before they made it big. And both of them kept the block cracking up she said. RIP to both of these legends.

Yes Foxx tryed to give parts and rolls to many of friends and vaudeville stars on the Sanford show that was just a little bit part of the problem redd had with the owners that did the writings also the money issue redd didn't like the small sum compared to other tv comedians like Archie bunker he wanted fair earnings to do with Sanford and son top ratings
