David was clearly influenced by Eddie however the inspirer can never be overtaken by the inspiree. Eddie's version not only being the original, is more soulful. Eddie's version just makes you want to grab your woman & give her what she's been BEGGIN' FOR FROM YOU, ALL THIS TIME, (if you don't know what that is, TURN IN YOUR PLAYER'S CARD)!!! Kendricks had the voice of an angel....you will never hear anyone on his stratosphere. David on the other hand, was just very gifted...and he added a technique to his version, that REALLY got your attention, because NO ONE was touching anything that any Temptation had gotten ahold of. That said, the original is just pure magic.

Eddie with lady killer falsetto, l'm sorry David ,you did a good cover but when come up against a master like Eddie,you got to bring it. You can't teach some of the phrasings & Eddie's God gifted vocal talent, his vocale vibrato is off the chain ,it's like he could hit & hold notes forever. Eddie is hands down the best.
