i was so impressed by Eve back then. My initial thoughts of her while watching her interviews back in 98/99 was: "She is so cool." The stylish way she dressed, her calming speaking voice and mature composure. .. Even the confident way that she patrolled the stage at this award show, Eve is just a cool-ass woman.. Through and through. She hasn't changed much either.

Oh my gosh, I spent the whole summer of 99' visiting family in the Bronx all the way from London. But I watched this at my cousins' house in Yonkers- I always remember Lauryn Hill saying 'you better walk that walk' and understood what she meant as a child. This nostalgia is everything. I love looking back on these award shows however it really saddens me. If you watch the 1995 legendary source awards then watch the 1999 award you can see how we got to the state of rap that were in now. Everything started to become materialistic and mainstream.

Yep I agree. Blame it on the record label owners who dictated what artists /rappers could say and promote on their albums.. based on the allowed budget… if you said ignorant things, you grabbed the big budget. If you spoke intelligence, record label gave low to zero budget

The difference between the 95 Source Awards that was held in the NYC & the 99 Source Awards that was held in LA; is that another coast respected everyone's different style. NYC one of the other hand disrespected everyone who was not from their neck of the woods. It's funny how time has changed during this moment.

You could tell Snoop, Soopafly, Daz, Xzibit, Kurupt and a lot of the West coast emcees was extra crunk not only because they didn't get a very warm reception when the Source Awards was held in NY, but now it's in L.A. (their home turf), so not only are they turned up but they wish any East coast emcee would act up that night!

That's a lie, west coast artists were beefing w each other that night in Pasadena. You know it's bad when E40 camp gets into a fight at an award show. An 40 water unproblematic. On top of DJ Quik camp getting into it w rival gang members who was there.
