This was a film on the ABC Movie Of The Week which aired on March 30th, 1971. This was a pilot film for a proposed series which did not sell.

@Jannet They probably just felt that the American viewing audience wasn't ready to accept a TV series starring a black man and woman.
@larryspiller66333 жыл бұрын
@@lwmson Perhaps that was so. In a few years that wasn't the case. Some of the Blaxploitation films were as good or better than anything else being shown at the time.

Thank you so much for posting this. Really good film. It reminded me of something my mother said. She grew up in the Jim Crow south of the 40's and 50's. She said in White Plains, GA young girls would come up pregnant, have snow white babies, and nobody asked any questions. The social commentary of this film was 💯.
@the2ndcoming1353 жыл бұрын
Excellent reminder. I noticed the comments are mostly about how handsome or dignified the star of the movie is. But, many seem to ignore the plot and the plight surrounding the women characters in the film😎
@danielt.coates52293 жыл бұрын
That is a real relevant historical comment and the 40/50s are not long ago. During the whole movie I was thinking to myself, the victim's anxiety and that of all her loved ones, how the question of pregnancy would have been a whole seperate tragic issue in real life.

🗣🎤I had the pleasure of meeting the Ossie Davis & the Paul Robeson, jr. Both gentlemen were companions of my then boss William Greaves & his wife Louise. William Greaves (affectionately called Bill) disallowed his few employees to make a big deal of his office guests. Somehow or another one day or the other Mr Davis gave us his autograph. Fond memories 💞

This was actually a pilot for a potential ABC TV series. However, ABC execs wouldn't accept it and it was obviously because they felt that the American TV viewing audience wasn't ready to accept a black man starring in a dramatic TV series, especially with a white man like Harve in a subordinate role to his. Shame though, because it appears on the basis of this movie that it still could have been a hit. Ozzie Davis and Ruby Dee were indeed magnificent actors.

Do you have the full movie "The Mack", or the full music score of Willie Hutch on that Movie? his musical lyrics exposed sinister exploits , and a good message, in my opinion. I can not remember the over-all theme/message of the movie. The score might have some value for today's young people
