Your welcome. thanks for sharing. what make and model hi speed planer is this your using? I want to try it
@ReelHazardous8 ай бұрын
Thanks for your support! It was a sea striker high speed planar. Model HS8. The only down side is if they get bent slightly they don’t do so well at high speed. I would test pull it before putting lines out. If it’s not straight it can start spinning pretty bad and tangle your lines.
@MrCliftonLaird8 ай бұрын
I was in rough seas with my stabilizers lowered and one of them got bent somehow. It was shooting 30 feet out of the water before I could winch it in. I thought about that when you were in the water filming

Nice video. It’s a small thing but I never thought to use a hand line reel to store and deploy my shock leader. I love an organized deck so that one is going in the tool kit.

what is the difference between the prop wash and the wake splash from your vantage point??
@eriktackett16505 жыл бұрын
Some of the biggest Ono I get is from running my lures right in the middle of the prop wash, second wake back. Always seems to work. I do you weights as well. Fish can see everything.....I definitely like the video, cool to see.

Thanks! That's cool to hear. How heavy of a weight do you use on that lure right down the middle?

Hello do you recommend a hook through the eye of the other hook when setting up a 2 hook skirt set up

No I like to rig the hook further back with cable and use heat shrink to make it stiff. I have a video on how I make my rig if that helps.

Nice video. Love your stuff. Question for you. Any thoughts on painting your weights white to blend in with the whitewater so as to not draw attention to the weight? I’m wondering what they would actually look like?
@ReelHazardous6 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I appreciate you watching the video! So l had that same thought but then my concern was that white lures are one of my best colors for Wahoo. I usually pull a white over blue lure second closest to the boat so I think the fish can still see it well. Maybe if it is the closest lure the white might help it blend better though. Do you have a lot of fish hitting your weights?

32 ounce inline with a 40' 400lb shock cord to an Islander type lure with two skirts and a 4 ounce weight inside

Super interesting. Thanks for posting. Is it possible that you hadn't let enough line out at the reel to let the lure drop tomorrow same depth as planer? Curious because I use the same set up (planer, double snap, rubber band) and always assumed that the snap pushed all the way down to planer.
@ReelHazardous6 жыл бұрын
No I agree with you, I think part of it was I hadn't let enough line back but will mark my line next time to make sure I let it all the way back.

i'm curious how this works. i's there actually a bait fish in nature that swims 15mph ? or is this more of a kind trick that triggers the fish to attack bait. my question is about trolling in general
@ReelHazardous6 жыл бұрын
Yeah there are bait fish that swim 15 mph. I frequently see baits like flying fish outrun us at this speed. Also small Bonito and mahi can swim that fast pretty easily. Wahoo will bite at all speeds but I think since lures are fake you have to move fast so they look more real. The second big reason to high speed troll is to cover more ground to find the fish.

@@ReelHazardous Is the shower curtain ring better than the traditional paper clip/etc?
@ReelHazardous5 жыл бұрын
@@southpaw8040 So far I have been liking it more that double snap swivels but I'll continue to test it. I would imagine any clip would work so long as it can hold up to the pressure of the big lure at high speeds and doesn't get held up on the planar line.

Amazing, thanks for those awesome videos. I am from Panama and we have our wahoo season pretty close in the Pacific Ocean. I would love to deploy a HST planner but does it works at 15knots?. If the answer is a yes. I'll be using it. Thanks again for the video.
@ReelHazardous6 жыл бұрын
No problem! Yeah, we trolled it at 17 to 18 mph and it worked fine. The manufacturer says it can go to 18 mph as well. 15 knots is just over 17 mph so you should be good!

I've caught way more hoo's on my back 2 line and now I see why. They can see them better. I may drop my whole spread back 100ft
@ReelHazardous6 жыл бұрын
How close do you put your close in lures and how big of weight do you use on them? I've done well on close ones as well as further back ones so I was curious how our setups differ. Also, I know one guy who actually puts his tag lines close because they are in clean water and the flatlines further back. That may be an option if it works with your spread.
@rusticmade6 жыл бұрын
@@ReelHazardous don't mark my lines like a lot of guys do but approx #1)100'-150' #2)150'-200' etc. Run 4 lines and sometimes a Mr. Big or heavier lure way back without a weight shot gun. 17knts seams to be the best speed for us. 48oz on close 2 36oz back 2
