Got to see David G play with Stephane Grapelli (ex-Hot Club France w/Django Rheinhart) at the Paramount Theater in Seattle in 1980, with Rob in Anchorage (small club venue) in the early 80s along with Mike Marshall and Darol Anger. Good times! Thanks for this!

As a musician myself, I really appreciate this video clip. There were several guitarists, Phil Keaggy comes to mind, who had perfected the use of the volume knob to create “bowed” sounding lines. This was an excellent example! Thanks so much for posting this!!!

Morse might be the only one I’ve seen us the tine pot with this technique (even on his current strats). Roy Buchanan was the best i saw do this with volume.

Yeah, Glass Harp was a huge influence on me back in the late 60s/early 70s. The volume swell thing stood me in good use over the years.

Mr Wizzard has always had the ability to play “clean” or any other coloring needed. He worked hard at technique since he was a kid. I remember going over to his house when he was about 14 and he answer Reed the door with guitar slung and continuously running arpeggio exercises and carrying on a conversation without interruption. As a budding keyboard player, I went home and rededicated my time to practicing.

I don't know what's weirder, this line-up of musicians or that they got booked on the Merv Griffin Show! I saw the Dregs live in the '70s - they played all kinds of genres and styles mixed together - so not a stretch for Steve with the "Dawg" and bassist!

Years back I was lucky enough to have worked with Rob a couple of times at my studio in Hollywood, CA and I can say that he was a wonderful person with musical sensitivities & abilities that were (pardon the pun) literally off the charts. more accurately called "Dawg" music, since David "Dawg" Grisman wrote that. :) That nickname of his has become a genre of its own, describing his blend of bluegrass, swing and jazz. Dig around here on YT and you may find a video of Grisman playing this piece with his quartet plus jazz violin legend Stephane Grappelli.

This is his Dixie Dregs guitar. The one he built himself with the strat neck on a tele body and all the different pickups. This was his main guitar for many years. The Music Mans didn't come until later.

This was 39 years ago...and that host, Merv Griffin wrote a book way back then detailing how Donald Trump totally screwed him in a real estate deal. It was one of the early publications that announced what many of us in the Northeast already knew about Trump. I only mention this because most today wouldn’t know who Merv Griffin even was...and here he is. He was great for musicians, a famous creator of game shows (ie Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy) and made his biggest fortune in real estate investing. Sorry to be political, but FYI.
