Great 'making of..' guys and a beautiful short film in the true 'short film' approach. Have you seen another wonderful space short 'Kosmonauta' ?

I just want to say I'm proud of you guys, you didn't just stop with Cosmos. I have watched the movie a couple of times. Very well done, I wished people here in the City, and State in which I reside Grand Rapids, Michigan in the USA would catch on to all the sacrifices and hard work you guys put into making Cosmos and put it into practice to make their own films. I know I'm just starting my venture as a filmmaker to making my first feature film. Throughout my part time college and full time work I managed to Persevere putting off vacations etc. over 7 years to be able to get half decent equipment on a budget to be ready to shoot once my script is complete which is in its early stages of developement.

Hi Timothy! Wow, it's great to hear from you, it's Elliot & Zander here. Apologies for our slow reply so thank you for your patience. Thank you so much for your kind words and it means all the more coming from a fellow filmmaker who understands the passion and patience it takes. How is your first feature coming along? Stick with it, persevere, don't give up, and before long it'll be us watching your movie and being inspired. If you're on instagram please join us over there at instagram.com/ellandzand as we're more easily contactable. It'd be great to stay in touch and follow your progress. Thanks once again for giving Cosmos your time and being a friend. Cheers and all the best, Elliot & Zander

Excellent guys. I really enjoyed Cosmos, the storyine, colour grading..everything. I perceived near the end that it was a really well made Indie film on a budget, so I stuck around to see the end credits and was gob smacked when Blackmagic pocket came up instead of ARRI. I thought you missed out BMPCC 4k, so I did some digging and here you are. Truly good honest filmaking..now I shall explore your channel. ..And subbed.

Hello, I like your works very much. I have a question, is the telephoto (canon 55-250) you are using an stm module or is ii module?
@Elliander2 жыл бұрын
Hi Sefa, apologies for our slow reply so thank you for your patience. The zoom we used on this short is a Tamron 18-200mm. We do own a 55-250 but I don't know what module it is. It's a pretty old lens now if that helps, probably from around 2011 or 2012. Thank you for your question and your support. E & Z

Great job, I picked up a 6K Pro last year, and I've been impressed with it (previously using a C100 and 7D before that) Cosmos looked great, you really squeezed the most out of the OG BMPCC
@Elliander2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Steve, we really appreciate that and your support, especially coming from a fellow filmmaker. How have you been finding the 6kPro since?
@stevegreen94742 жыл бұрын
Cheers, I've only shot bits and bobs - but do like it (and am really loving Resolve) UI and screen is brilliant, form factor a bit awkward for gimbal work - I'm not sure how much I really *need* 6K - the file sizes are a bit of a killer - think 5.7 is good as rolling shutter reduced (more like P4K apparently) Takes a bit of experimentation finding the sweet spot regarding ISO - I tended to underexpose indoors to start with, and got more noise than I was expecting. Battery life still poor compared to a C100, but the indicator feels a bit inaccurate - probably get 45 mins safely with the proper batteries (or find alt sources)
@Elliander2 жыл бұрын
@@stevegreen9474 This is actually a fantastic review of the camera and pretty much agree with you. We rarely shoot anything in full 6K even though we have that capability now. Certainly worth the experimentation to hone in on the look you like the most
@stevegreen94742 жыл бұрын
@@Elliander thanks! Yeah I can't really see the point for a lot of users - I've seen people using Gyroflow with a BMPCC + GoPro to stabilise footage - I guess having those extra pixels might be useful there, but I did VFX on a low budget feature and that was finished at 2K, and looked great projected
@Elliander2 жыл бұрын
@@stevegreen9474 yeah I mean, you're right. When indie's are finishing in 2k, 6k is a lot of reframing room. I think for VFX I guess the benefit is there. One thing's for sure the camera is nicely future proof for a good few years
@DineshBhadwal Жыл бұрын
Would you consider Panasonic S1H over the 6K Pro? It has BM Raw if you need it. It's Netflix approved. Terrific in-body stabilisation and Anamorphic modes too. Thank you for your work. It's one of the best examples of what it means when we say that digital filmmaking has provided opportunity for everyone to become a filmmaker.

Incredible work guys! I'm curios about the use of 33fps ... Can I ask why you chose such a specific frame rate over the standard 24fps?
@elliotzanderweaver8905 Жыл бұрын
Hi Sean, great question - we chose to shoot at 33fps so that when we placed it into our 24fps edit, we'd have a slightly slower feel to our footage, a more dream like quality to the movement :) Hope that helps x

Dear Elliot & Zander: I was wondering which model telescope and which adaptor you used for the camera. I live in a part of the US with a lot of "dark sky" areas, which are excellent for filming and photographing the night sky, and I'm looking to upgrade my stargazing hobby into a more creative venture. I am such a fan of COSMOS: when I first saw it, I had no idea it was shot on a shoe-string budget. I honestly thought it was a major production until I watched the "making of." It is such a moving movie; Carl Sagan would be proud. Anyway, I love this short film as well and I'm excited for what you guys do next. Sincerely, Astro-nut #058, John
@elliotzanderweaver89052 жыл бұрын
Hi there John! Wonderful to hear from you, thank you so much for reaching out and sorry it's taken so so long to get a reply to your message. We have so many platforms to reply on that sometimes we have to come round in orbits like a comet to each platform. So thank you for your patience. So, the telescope is a Celestron NexStar 4se and the dslr adapter is a Celestron T-Adapter-MAK. I hope that helps and that it's not too late for you. Thank you as always for your support and for being part of our Cosmos family - it truly means a lot to my brother and I and all of Team Cosmos who made the movie. Our best wishes, Elliot and Zander (AstroNuts)
