When Tim Allen filmed the scene where he reveals himself to be a liar, it was the most dramatic scene he had ever done. After he was done shooting, he got so emotional that he had to go sit in his trailer. Alan Rickman went up to the director and said, "I think he just experienced acting."

"Never give up. Never surrender." Fun Fact: Tim Allen admitted that he was quite star-struck when he met Sigourney Weaver, as he's a huge fan of Alien (1979). Allen even asked Weaver to sign some of his Alien Franchise memorabilia between takes. She ultimately did. Expanded Role Fact: Laliari is the first main role Missi Pyle landed in a feature film. Her role was expanded after the producers noticed Sigourney Weaver was the only female main character. Red Shirt Lives Fact: Despite frequent whining about his character Crewman Number Six being expendable and going to die, Guy Fleegman (Sam Rockwell) is the only crew member not to be shot and killed by Sarris (Robin Sachs) during his surprise assault towards the end.

YES!! One of the best Star Trek movies ever made! And it's also a tribute to the franchise as well. This shows us what would happen if the cast of Star Trek were mistaken for real space heroes, where they must fight off an intergalactic warlord.

People should start requesting a re-release of an unedited version. When this movie was originally shot Tony Shalub’s character was constantly stoned. It explains so much that gets lost without it.
@colettebezio1913 Жыл бұрын
Another fun fact: when they made the movie, because it was a comedy, they wanted NO big sci-fi actor names in it. Sigourney Weaver had to beg to play Gwen because she wanted the part so much.

In case it didn’t click, Fred is high the entire movie. But, in order to get the rating they wanted, they had to remove references to it. But that’s why he’s always eating and so chill.

They actually removed the whole scene of him getting high. They also removed the scene where Gwen (Sigourney Weaver) had her uniform malfunction.

What makes this movie great is that it is a blend of a spoof and an homage at the same time, and it is also a love letter to the die-hard fans.

"Stops at one": "Star Trek" and other sci fi shows often have a destructive counter go down to the very last second, in order to make the most of the tension. Since the Thermians have modeled the ship on the show they've seen, the counter will always go down to 1 no matter what.

"Galaxy Quest": The best "Star Trek" movie that Paramount didn't make. Sigourney Weaver signed on specifically as a Blonde. She felt her IQ level dropping every time she wore the Blonde wing...all the way home. Other 1999 movies of note: "The iron Giant" and "October Sky," set in the-1957-Sputnik-era. The former asks if a weapon can have a Soul and choose NOT to destroy. The latter is the tale of Coal Town teens who seek to see the outer world by launching model rockets. (The early life of Homer Hickam Jr., NASA scientist.)

There is a great documentary on this movie and the place it holds in the hearts of Trekkies called “Never Surrender”. The cast and crew participated in it alongside fans of the film. (With the exception of Alan Rickman R.I.P.).

💙LOVE this movie!!! It's a great comedy, but when Quellek is shot & tells Dr. Lazarus (Alan Rickman) he has always looked upon him as a father, I tear up. Dr. Lazarus repeats the catchphrase he formerly loathed, but now it actually means something to him.

The funny thing was that this movie was originally not welcome by sci-fi fans, It didn't do great in the theaters partially because people thought it would be mocking fandom. It become absolutely beloved after it went to video.

The closest movie I can think of with a similar concept is "Delirious," in which John Candy plays a screenwriter who finds himself living in the TV soap opera that he writes. He soon discovers that he can affect events with his typewriter. There's a really funny scene where, after a drunken night of writing, he has to experience all the typos he made.

3:55 Back in the 70s and 80s when Star Trek/Star Wars/Comic conventions were a new thing, if you were a sci-fi fan you were a "nerd", and this sort of stuff happened a lot: people would go to the cons just to mock the fans and celebs who were there.

I think I like it more than most people. Unlike with modern movies I feel like some thought went into its story. Even though it was centered around space and aliens it wasn't overly reliant on terrible CGI chase scenes and such. There weren't constant sex scenes or boring scenes to make the movie longer than it had to be. And the humor wasn't very preachy it was mostly just fun. I think that's what made me enjoy it more than most big movies made today. Plus like you said, it had all these childhood fantasies in it. A world beyond what the adults know of. Fans able to apply their knowledge. And some character arcs that feel somewhat sincere. In modern movies I often feel that I'm 'supposed' to care about someone, or am 'supposed' to have a certain opinion about a character who isn't believable in the first place. And that turns me off. Or they use very cheap ways to patch together cool action scenes and then call it a story. Here it all feels sort of natural, and I miss that.

The brother-in-law for Forgetting Sarah Marshall is Bill Hader. Rainn Wilson (The Office) is an alien in the limo and Enrico Colantoni is the alien leader, Mathesar. He's not in Forgetting Sarah Marshall I don't think, but he is a lead in Veronica Mars with Kristen Bell.
