Anchor - The Award Show is the highlight of the previous competition. On
this special evening our wonderfull hosts Melissa Khalaj & Tarik Tesfu present the best six up-and-coming live acts of the year at the St. Pauli Theater, and the jury consisting of Emily Kokal, Julia Stone, Tayla Parx and Tim Bendzko announces the winner of the Anchor 2024.
The vision is lo-fi, the view hazy, the sound framework soldered together from toys and Kasio keyboards: strongboi are as unpretentious as a granola bar in a five-star restaurant. The duo from Berlin listeners you on a journey through nostalgic scraps of memory with their minimalist bedroom pop, which is as sepia-toned and warm as a holiday on the Baltic Sea. Alice Phoebe Lou - who has already earned a reputation for herself as an established magician of sophisti-pop with her solo work - and Ziv Yamin work so well as a team that they can easily transport the sound of their self-titled debut album, “strongboi” (2023), from the studio to the stage. They also use session musicians in their live performances, but the overall musical picture is always characterised by the unmistakable sense of understatement that the two have been celebrated for by their fans for four years now.
