Mr Rees_Mogg "Where does our sovereignty come from ? Sovereignty comes from the people to Parliament, it does not come to Parliament out of a void. We hold it in trust for the people and they gave us an instruction. If Parliament tries to challenge the people, this stretches the elastic of our constitution near to breaking point. We should recognise that the people are our masters and show us to be their lieges and servants, not to place ourselves in the position of their overlords." Well said.

@Dr 2 Actually Jacob Reese Mog is exactly right. You cannot withdraw confidence from the government on specifics but pretend to give confidence in the generality. This will give commands to the government and create a marrionnette government. If a governemnt loses confidence of the house at any point, a formal vote of no confidence should be held and an election ensues and not have any arbitary majority of MPs make their own laws. When the government, which was formed after the previous election, no longer holds a majority in confidence of the house, it means circumstances has changed, and the people should be asked again on who should be the new government.

@taniacummings92075 жыл бұрын
@Tony King I don't think that is quite correct. My understanding is it is a Constitutional Monarchy with democratically elected parliamentary representation of the people and that the people are sovereign. The Queen reigns she does not rule and parliament governs by consent of the people. Though the Queen does have constitutional powers to sack the government and she can also call a general election, she has always remained politically neutral publicly and her role is to listen, advise and caution her prime minister in the weekly meeting. Knowledge of the constitution suffers by its not being codified in one single document and the fact that people are not taught about it in school. Too busy shoving Cultural Marxist Socialism down children's throats. I have learned a lot since the Brexit debacle, much of it from JRM and YT Daddy Dragon. And I was educated at a good high school as far back as the 1960s. This has been going on a long time. Even law degrees (apparently so I hear) do not cover the Constitution and how the country is really run.

I agree whole heartedly, Mr Rees - Mogg was the stand out candidate for the role of leader of the House at such a contentious & turbulent time in our nations history, his insightfulness intelligence & integrity shone a laser bright light on the attempt of those contributing to a lane duck parliament, but for his extraordinary intervention in setting out his case which made his less able detractors change their viewpoints, the UK populas in years to come will look back on this particular session & offer even greater praise for his wisdom & courage in the face of adversity, a truly necessary appointment to leader of the house, of Jacob Reece Mogg, Commeth the hour of Commeth the man!. Thank you Jacob for standing up for the peoples of our Nation to ensure demoracy preveils.
