Alyssa is so cute, and so talented, and her voice is beautiful! 🤭 I love how AJ gives lil' suggestions to the singers, like with MatPat for the BATIM musical. Considering AJ writes the lyrics, he knows how they're supposed to sound, and I love how passionate he is about the delivery being right, even if he doesn't know what right is at that point. You don't know what works until you try it, and I love watching him sound it out with Alyssa, the two learning together. (ᵔᴥᵔ) It's also adorable seeing them act out the gestures to get into their roles. 😋

OK, I just want to make sure I say a few things today: First off, Alyssa is wonderful, and I would love to see her in more RE projects. When the musical released, I was impressed from the start with her acting performance, and especially with her singing. Thank you for doing this, Alyssa! And thank you, RE, for having her on! That was the best thing I gained from this most recent musical. But a couple other things I feel the need to get off my chest... *sigh.* OK. Most Random Encounters musicals I will watch multiple times immediately, and whenever they show up as recommended videos, I'll rewatch them again and enjoy them, no matter how many years it's been. But there are exactly two musicals that I have watched only once, and then never again. One of them was the Hungry Lamu musical, and... I'm sad to say, the other was this one. It's just that horror stuff is very hit-and-miss for me --- and usually more "miss" than "hit;" between certain lifelong traumas (I'll spare you any details) and mental illnesses I deal with... even if it doesn't scare me, horror stuff often leaves me feeling sick and disturbed for a VERY long time afterward. I mean, the horror genre wants you to have fear reactions, which you would specifically call "terror;" but horror also has the goal of leaving you with a sense of creeping unease and sometimes disgust, which is a mental/emotional state we call being "horrified," for good reason. So, if I skip out on this musical and things related to it, it's not meant as a personal insult to anyone; if anything, you can take it as a sign that you did an excellent job. It's just really not my thing. That brings me to the other thing I felt like getting off my chest today, venting, even if nobody reads this: It frustrates me to no end that good KZbin channels and production people, like Random Encounters, are having their viewership taken from them. I've seen that problem all up and down KZbin, affecting everything from music channels, to animation channels, to history channels, to edu-tainment channels, to comedy vlog channels. People who have developed their talents and actually work hard are not being rewarded for their work. Meanwhile, KZbin seems interested in promoting even low-quality videos about whatever is trendy, or videos from people who are good at generating controversy. Neither of those types of video require much effort or skill (or intelligence, in a lot of cases) to produce. But that's what seems to succeed. It bothers me that KZbin is willing to make its platform such a hostile environment for genuine creators. And that's why it bothers me that, for whatever reason --- whether it's due to a KZbin algorithm or viewers' choice --- the RE musicals that get the most viewership tend to be the horror ones. In the past couple years, RE has produced some musicals that I personally find to be some of their best work ever, and yet the numbers show that most people aren't watching those musicals. I mean, the Castlevania musical was incredibly catchy, in a genre that RE had never done before, it was based on a long-standing franchise, and it had fun performances. Yet how long did it take for that one to reach even 100,000 views? Then just a couple weeks later, The Man from the Window musical (which I do find incredibly funny, by the way) does phenomenally well, because it hit on a trend. If it's KZbin's doing that prevents most people from watching a lot of RE's content, that's... annoying; there isn't much to be done about that. But if it's the result of viewers consciously deciding to ignore RE projects besides the horror ones (and ESPECIALLY the subscribers who are "only here for FNAF"), that just irritates me. I mean, yes, Random Encounters excels at a lot of genres of music and video production, horror included. But I've always felt their biggest strength --- and the variety of content they tend to enjoy making the most --- is in the cheerful, silly kind of stuff. Yet they're limited in how often they get to make videos like that, because you have to maintain viewership if you want your channel to stay afloat, and thus there's a certain obligation to bend to what the fans want. I really want to encourage RE subscribers, and other new viewers, to watch more of the content on this channel (well, on the main channel; you know what I mean), and give more of it a chance. I wish I could get them to understand the value in that. But not only do I know that most of those subscribers aren't subscribed to RE Xtra, and thus won't see this; I also know that a lot of those viewers in question have allergic reactions to writing that is longer than a single paragraph. So, I don't know who this thought really has a chance of reaching. I suppose I really just want to say, thank you for doing what you guys do, Random Encounters, and I hope you have a lot of future opportunities to make a wide variety of stuff, and enjoy doing it. I know I'll support it to the best of my ability. Well, beauty, eh. (
@Nefenjo Жыл бұрын
That third-to-last paragraph had me literally laughing out loud, because (while reading the paragraph before) I had already started wording a response in my head that was along those lines. And unfortunately, I believe it's accurate to say that at least 95% of the lack of viewership on most videos is due to the KZbin algorithm rather than viewer-conscious decisions to not watch it. Not only to you have to subscribe to a channel, AND click the notification bell, but you ALSO have to have it set to "All" notifications rather than the default "Personalized" (aka, let the algorithm decide whether or not to show it to you). I'm sure there are literally *millions* of RE subscribers who didn't get the Castlevania notification, just because they left the notification alert on default "personalized" instead of "all", and they are seriously missing out.

You’re absolutely right. Some of my favorite RE musicals are the non-horror ones, like KTANE, Cuphead, Huniepop, etc. and I LOVE Castlevania so much! Those musicals definitely deserve more love and views.
