For those wondering, rugby (both 7s and 15s) doesn't actually have stoppage time like soccer. They actually stop the clock when they don't want it to run. It's just that the final play is allowed to continue past the end (zero in 7s, 80 in 15s) until there is a score or a scrum or the ball goes into touch (out of bounds). This means that play does continue on a penalty so the if the penalty is in favor of the trailing team, they will tap and go or kick for goal depending on how many points they need. If the winning team is awarded the penalty, they'll just kick it out of bounds and end the game.
@peterburns39025 ай бұрын
A few things to add to that: Not every scrum ends the game, only when there is a knock on (ball is hit forward off of the upper body) or forward pass. If a scrum is elected from a penalty or free kick, play continues. 2. A team can kick into touch off of a penalty and play will continue and it will be their lineout. If the offended team wants to end the game, they must tap the ball to their foot first and then kick it into touch.

Maybe just use the clock proper like most sports do, in play i counts down, plays stopped it stops, end of the period, quarter, ot (whatever) is the end. Then there wouldnt be any questions.

About the IIHF Women's World Championship, it just concluded today in Utica, and Canada would triumph, defeating USA 6-5 in overtime. The winner was scored by Danielle Serdachny just over five minutes into OT. On a lighter note for a player on USA, Hilary Knight became the most decorated player in women's worlds history, earning her 14th medal at the competition. This total surpasses the previous mark of 13, which was held by Canadian Hayley Wickenheiser.

Something small I noticed and really appreciated in this vid: Both in the rugby breakdown and the hockey breakdown, you didn’t feel the need to say “women’s” rugby or “women’s” hockey. I’m so used to hearing that before seeing “women’s” sports highlights that I was actually surprised they each weren’t men’s teams and was able to check my own bias there. Little things like this are huge and go a long way towards everyone appreciating all sports for what they are: just great sports. No qualifiers needed!

@@amireallythatgrumpy6508because the French player (number 4) knocked on just before it went out.
