Does anyone know why in many of the videos the outsole maker's logo is taped over when showing the edging and finishing process? The leather on these boots is beautiful.

I would think to protect it from the stain they use for the edge color and/or from the sanding process.

Ok, someone has to explain what keeps the nails from pressing up into your foot.

*From **6:50** to **13:03** you'll see the lasting process and the start of the bottoming with the leather shank and leather midsole. The boot sits on what is called a "last". You can look up pictures of them. They're similar to the shape of a foot. It's meant for shaping the leather materials around the last for the size of the customers' foot. It helps in the shaping of the boots! They take a nail, hammer it into the leather materials, and that nail hits a metal plate on the bottom of the last. It causes the nail to curl back into itself, back into the leather. Think of the letter "J", because that nail makes that J shape as it's hammered in. They say the nail "clinches" into the material. So that's why the nails are called clinch nails.* *You shouldn't feel the nails at all. The last is there to help curl those nails 😊*

the pleating during the lasting process looks like chinese dumpling...or succulent leather dumpling. Somebody calibrated the outsole stitcher it sounds way better.
