you're supposed to raise and lower it from the bottom one. the two in that's holding the spring is supposed to be a pre load setting. the bottom one adjust the actual shocks itself, so the pre load don't change. the way you adjust it is the old way. edit: but you did it correct on the driver side..lol
@RefineMovement6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I see what you mean. It's ok to adjust the pre-load side but for continuities sake, yes, I need to even that back out so the pre-load is the same on both sides for the rears. The front's were done the by loosening the bottom ring. Good eye man!
@hugosatterwhite13436 жыл бұрын
Yeah i think you’re right, on the R/R he adjusted the spring compression and on the L/R he adjusted the actual height but spring compression is going to be different, idk if i explain myself, but yeah you do need to adjust the height the same way on both sides, i wish i had a garage to work on cars :( good videos man

I literally started screaming at the screen, "Noooooooo, not that one!!!" Lmao Suspension adjustments are killer
@RefineMovement6 жыл бұрын
So about the pre load thing. The mistake I made when raising the car right rear was that I was adjusting it from the spring seat collar where I should have adjusted it from the locking collar right beneath the spring seat. When the coilover is in the car, the BC instructions say to use the locking collar that is right beneath the spring seat collar to raise it. If I needed to lower it, then I would have used the locking collar to spin it. I got those two mixed up in the process. I know you guys think I was just pre loading the spring and I can understand why because there isn’t a clip just sitting on that part showing everything spin. The entire shock body was spinning though, not just the spring. Yes, the locking ring that sits up against the spring seat moved so it’s possible that I did put a bit of pre load in. So I will have to check that. I did make that mistake. But I don’t think it’s as dramatic as you are thinking it is. I’m just going to measure the right rear and compare it to the left rear and adjust it back as necessary.

Not sure who else to ask at this point, but just going to hope that you read this comment and respond. I am trying to decide between a 1992-1993 EG and 2002 to 2004 EX Civic and finally came down to one thing. The thing I used the most, in both my previous 2003 and 2015 Civic's, was the pollen/ cabin air system. Do the EG models have this in them? because when you watch video's of the center console, you do see something that looks like one. I have always wanted a 1992 -1993 hatchback, but living in the desert man.... that ishh is a life saver.
@RefineMovement6 жыл бұрын
Sorry man but I don’t think I’ll be able to help you here. My car doesn’t have anything under the dash so I don’t know if the eg ever came with one. My car is a cx as well so I’d say it’s least likely it would have one. I would assume the newer car, the 02 or 04 would have it though since standards are usually raised over generations of a car. If the cabin air system is the only reason you’d buy one car over another I’d always go with the newer car

What was the measurement on the collar you ended up with ? going to be doing this soon and would love to have a baseline to work off as a time saver
@middletonrippberger6 жыл бұрын
1st you need to clean the anti-seize off, The lock rings are already prone to coming loose under track use. 2nd you need to use a really big flat head screwdriver or a large punch and a hammer to "set" (lock) the lock rings or they will come loose sooner or later. 3rd you need to check and properly set the pre-load on the springs. springs with to much pre-load will damage the valving in the dampers. I have seen excessive pre-load kill a set of dampers in as little as 2,000 miles. also if the pre-load is set unevenly it can make a car handle differently to the left or right. If you need to know how to properly set the pre-load let me know, It's not hard and I can talk you through it.

Hey bro.. I just order the BC racing coilovers. For our EG civic.. they ask if it's fork style or eyelet style? Didn't understand what they mean...
@RefineMovement4 жыл бұрын
Fork or eyelet style refers to your rear lower control arms. Fork style is more common I would think where the coilover actually sits over the lower control arm like a fork. The two prongs of the coilover go around the lca and the bolt goes through. Eyelet style is more like Type R stock stuff where the coilover sits in a "cup" so to speak inside the rear lower control arm

These coilover are so worth the money, they are amazing! I went with a little more conservative spring rate of 10k in the front and 8k in the rear. Didnt want to go to crazy as I still drive my car on the street but man, it's a whole different car, even though my car has done awesome at the track so far, I'm so stoked to dial these things in and get back out there, the car is on rails now!
@RefineMovement6 жыл бұрын
That’s great man! I’m happy for you that you got them on and have driven on track as well as the street. I have 10k front and 5k rear on my red hatch and I for sure felt the positive difference as well. I’m really excited to see how these stiffer springs do with this lighter car. What’s crazy is I feel like 14k front is still somewhat conservative. I’ve seen the a fair amount of these 90’s Honda’s that are dedicated track cars on 20k front springs and 16k rear!

Will you ever swap to a B16 or another honda engine?? 180-200 hp it's perfect for track(for the eg). And will you do any interior customization for better feeling and driving experience(steering wheel,seats,5 point harnesses etc. ). Love your cars!
@RefineMovement6 жыл бұрын
Yeah I’ll get to another engine series some day. For me, I’m still learning how to drive this car on track in anger. Even though it’s a low powered car there’s still plenty for me to learn considering I’m still very new at this. More power eventually. As far as the interior, yeah, I for sure have a nice bucket seat with the harness on the list and a better feeling steering wheel. I’d like to do a roll cage as well for peace of mind.
@leonidasjinjer56826 жыл бұрын
Refine Movement Nice. I totally understand. Also don't need high hp to have fun. I'm 18 and now I'm getting my driving lisence and my dream(since I can remember myself..4 yo) is to build a racecar. Not an expensive one. I don't need that. I wanna buy a honda civic eg or ek , or a peugeot 206 to start have fun with cars and build it around 180-200 hp. It's enough for a person to have fun at track I think. Good handling , nice exterior ,racing interior and it's all someone wants. My opinion.

I'm debating.. BC Racing coilovers 14kg front springs 12kg rear springs vs the Ktuned K2 coilovers 18kg front springs and the 16kg rear springs, dang how those coilovers you got on feels man by doing 60mph-80mph on curves left and right, any bumps or how does it feels driving on regular streets, how does it feels and how does absorbs the impact on pat holes, bad road street conditions. Here in Miami the roads r nasty so bad damage specially if you driving on little Haiti to little Havana Cuba.

@RefineMovement6 жыл бұрын
I guess it depends on what your definition of fanny about is haha. I'd get a new clutch and flywheel while your old motor is out. Since your new motor came off an automatic car you may need to remove the automatic transmission plate that may have come with it. I'd also replace the rear main engine oil seal on the new block before putting it back in. Other than that it sounds like its just put the new longblock in. Everything else in your bay stays the same.
@Itsmedansee6 жыл бұрын
Refine Movement I'm getting a wuuring noise I can only guess is the crank bearings going as it's at 135 thousand miles and been hammered. So I just wanted to swap for the auto block as it's the only one I could find with just 58 thousand miles. While I have the engine out I wanted to replace all gaskets water pump and timing kit so I should be trouble free for a while...can you suggest the best things to do while I have the engine out?

hey dude your rear brakes are integras I believe from 1994-2000, when you purchase the BC racing coilovers have you told them that you have integras rear disc brakes it didn't matter if you told them or not, it will still fit even if it was stock rear drum brakes eg civics... ?
@RefineMovement6 жыл бұрын
The coilovers don’t interfere with the brakes. The important question they have is does your car have the rear fork style lower control arm or is it the rear eyelet type. That determines the coilovers mounting points for the rear

@RefineMovement6 жыл бұрын
Well I actually haven’t tried out the BC properly just yet. Both coilovers share the same basic design. It’s really going to come down to spring rates. I use my ksports on my daily so the spring rates aren’t as aggressive as the BC setup I got. The two cars serve two different purposes so it’s not really a straightforward comparison between the two sets of spring rates. I’ll for sure give my thoughts on the spring rates I’ve chosen on the BC coils after I’ve tracked the car again though!
