If you're looking for more detailed information about the yield module, Arstraea put this little spreadsheet together with all the yields: cdn.discordapp...
A big thank you to my patrons who error checked the video and gave me some great suggestions on how to improve it before publishing the video. If you want to help out with making these tutorials better: / splitsie
New tutorials will be posted as soon as I feel they are complete but hopefully will be able to get them out about once per week.
If you have any tutorial topics you'd like me to cover in the coming videos please let me know in the comments. If you've got burning questions about how to do something, ask here and I'll do my best to answer.

I have a tip for new players. If you lay down a blueprint for a construction you can right click the construction with a welder in hand. This will show you the required components in your build planner. You can then click the middle mouse button while facing an access point on your assembler or on a cargo containter that is linked to your assembler and you will automaticly drag the required components from your storage to your inventory. If you are missing some components, click the middle mouse button while holding down the shift key, still facing an access point, and the assembler will start producing the missing components. EDIT. This works with the basic assembler as well.

I can't believe how lucky I got that it was in shot while I was messing with the assembler - gotta love some unplanned comedy :D The tutorials tend to take longer the further into the game I get, due to the concepts getting more complex it's harder to come up with clear and simple ways to explain it. I am usually happier to wait until I'm satisfied with the end product rather than rushing something out and having to correct it later :)

Many useful tips for new and veteran players alike. Here's one from me: If you want to grab all the required items for something you're building, you can use middle-mouse button when aiming at an inventory that connect to a cargo container with those items. You can stack it if you click multiple times. You will get a notification if some items were missing and how much. Incredibly handy and will speed up your builds.

Thanks for all Tutorials. Here is mine tip: I like to have 2 type modules on refineries. All yield with sorter for less common ores like Gold, Silver, Platinum and Uranium. Second one with all speed modules and sorter for all others ores, but mostly stone. With all speed it's chews stone as insane. And an sorter with on/off button connected to All Yield modules refinery for more common ores if there are no "expensive" ones, if All Speed can't catch up.

Hang speed and power efficiency, Yield is the way to go. Power I have in abundance, and speed I don't care about. I need my refinery to return the MAXIMUM material I can have it produce.
@Splitsie
@Splitsie 5 жыл бұрын
Agreed, my usual approach is to start with power efficiency until I've got enough power to comfortably run everything I want and then when I've got some gold I replace them with yield, if I want stuff faster, it's time for more refineries :D
@SirTragain
@SirTragain 5 жыл бұрын
Great job explaining functionality of the modules. I too go for 4x yield modules and on the assembler put 4x efficiency modules. So with batteries, wind turbines and or solar panels; I don't really concern myself with the power usage when refining. However since I do so hate waist; I use the Gravel Resource Extractor mod. Keep up these types of tutorials as I see you cover so much more insightful tips that would most certainly ruin a new players experience.

I look forward to a "how to make your base less atrocious to look at" tutorial. Thanks a bunch for the videos btw. Too poor to afford a good gaming PC so I settle for my console doubling as a bonfire as I play this game. It's nice to know how to play the game that's melting my Xbox as much as my brain and you do a very good job teaching smoothbrains like myself how to play in succinct and simple terms.

I really wish that they made the look of the upgrade module ports differ drastically in appearance from normal conveyor ports. They look too similar and is confusing to new players. They should look more like a power socket or something.

SE has been the most intimidating sandbox game i've purchased and has left me walking away from it because i'm just horrible with the logistics in this game. The closest i've come to something like this was Factorio and that was done with the help of others in game to manage. I decided to look up Farket to see if he had anything new and saw he picked up SE after the Forest. I loved watching his videos, but watching him take a stab at this game and he mentioned you and was giving you mad props was what made me come see your tutorial for this game. I started watching these today, and i must say, the amount of information you have provided in your videos has sparked a new found motivation to take another stab at this game. Amazing job in your introductions to everything you show in your videos. Thanks for uploading these videos!

Personally, i run the scarce resources mod, so i run Yield exclusively to get as much as i can out of a single trip to Mars / the Moon / wherever else, but i can see the appeal of speed and power efficiency. For Assemblers i run 2 speed, 2 power, just because these suckers drain like theres no tomorrow, especially when you have a full manufactorium with 6 or so of them in there :D On another note, i have just over 1000 hours in SE, so i technically wouldnt need to watch these, but i still find them interesting and it in turn helps me explain things to my newer friends (im no good at teaching stuff) wich is very much appreciated. Tutorials like this are essential for complex games like Space Engineers, Warframe and many others, so a big thanks to you as usual and keep up the good work!
@Splitsie
@Splitsie 5 жыл бұрын
I tend to do the same, even though the last yield module is wasted on iron, it's rarely the resource you're focused on so having more yield modules is normally worth it on balance :) I hadn't thought of that angle, it makes me happy knowing that I can help you teach others :)
@fenchellforelle
@fenchellforelle 5 жыл бұрын
@@Splitsie yep. iron tends to stop being an issue for me once the first drill rig is stationed above a cobalt / magnesium vein. usually just the side product is enough stone to keep everything running smoothly. One more thing im going to need help with though since both me and my brother struggle with that when introducing our friends to SE, do you have any tips on motivating people to build stuff on their own? i have a friend who has gotten some interest in playing the game, and seems to massively enjoy ship combat, but he absoloutely refuses to spend time farming resources, in turn leaving me no time to do ship building of my own because of the massive resource drain his constant fighting puts on our base :/
@Splitsie

The most success I've had with that has been when I sent Capac to the moon on his own to establish an outpost. Knowing they've got to be self sufficient tends to change people's perspective on resource management :)

@@Splitsie Technically you can have separate rig with speed modules to smelt iron only or better use Basic Refineries what are by default more efficient. That was in fact intended use of Arc Furnace most people simply ignored.

I made an early game large block wheeled miner/refiner which is just amazing. It can mine 6x+ its own weight and has a full refinery, assembler, h/o2, survival, hydrogen engine with 8 large mining tools. It has a flying miner for hard to reach ore or for making a ramp for the big miner to use. It is still mostly mining the glacier and outer edge.

It is an excellent learning experience. The first playthrough is always different from any game after, as it's one you'll always remember. With experience comes a path of least resistance, but the first blind playthrough is nothing but learning. All in all, it's an unforgiving game, but it is quite satisfying to progress! Clang drive's next on my list to experiment with.
