Hi Joe. I'm playing a lot of acoustic blues with the blues shuffle, fingerstyle and with a pick. You really hit an important point by inserting short licks and even single treble notes between measures. This really adds so much to the shuffle and does show an intermediate knowledge of blues music. It would be great if you could present a lesson related to these between bar licks. You play a lot of them in your Drifting Blues lesson. I can play the 2 licks between bars 3 an 4. I'm not able to follow the other licks - say between bars 1 - 2 and 2 to 3. Which strings are played and do you sluff off the "and" of 4 to insert these licks? I also like the B7 variations in bar 9, but can't always tell what you are strumming. Thanks for your lessons.

Love tne lesson and your content Joe! At the end you introduced a cool move between the shuffles. You added a couple of open g string hits and then hammered on to the e note. Sounds great. But do you have any tips on how you work this into the timing of the song.

Brilliant lesson, as always, Joe. You don’t really go into why you don’t use a thumb pick a la Robert Johnson but I guess it’s because you don’t want that constant bass picking as harsh but a little more than palm muting. Your lessons are mostly pitched right at my level of playing and even when above, you’re not condescending like some tutors.
@JoeMurphysGuitarlessons3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Rich, I just don’t get along with thumb picks and am happy with using thumb and fingers.
@mike7979dora3 жыл бұрын
Hi Joe. Just watched this video, wonder why using my thumb not getting good sound. The sound is more muted or string vibrating🤔
@JoeMurphysGuitarlessons3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike, it’s a little difficult to say without actually hearing you play, but muted it’s not a bad thing necessarily, as that is a style which is used quite a lot in blues so maybe you just need to experiment with the right hand getting the right amount of dampening so it avoids any vibration. Hope that helps all the best
@guitarnutter42984 жыл бұрын
Excellent lesson! Can i use an electric guitar for something like this? I dont have an acoustic. Thanks in advance.
@JoeMurphysGuitarlessons4 жыл бұрын
Sure
@paulbelopolsky74605 жыл бұрын
PS: what I find most difficult about hitting the high E with the index or middle finger is that I tend to mute it with the palm of my left hand. It’s frustrating. Any tips?
@JoeMurphysGuitarlessons5 жыл бұрын
If I am understanding you correctly poor you need to find a position where your palm isn’t touching the string I know that sounds obvious, but it could be that you just need to experiment raising your wrist so it comes away from the string
@craigdewitt42924 жыл бұрын
@@JoeMurphysGuitarlessons Great lesson Joe your tutoring skills are epic
@craigdewitt42924 жыл бұрын
@Paul Belopolsky All you need are nice long fingers like Joe's and you're sorted. My hands are so small that just to play the E 1+2+ requires my hand to double back at the wrist in a 90 degree to my arm. 2 minutes in and there's pain so I'll have to look for an alternative.
