@@krbk26 I think your comment might’ve been meant for someone else, as the content creator didn’t say anything bad about using tape. She was just precise enough with the brush to work without it. In fact, I felt that she actually advised people who don’t paint lots to use tape. Viewers commented more about her preciseness and how tape might not benefit them. As with all things, some people do things one way, and others do those same things differently. She did a phenomenal job without using tape. Now, that might’ve been a total disaster for me and many others.🙏🏾

Thanks for keeping it real! So tired of you tube videos where women wear lovely outfits and never get dirty! I don't know anyone in real life that paints in nice clothes or cleans in nice long sleeve sweaters. Seriously, I don't appreciate feeling clutzy because you can just look at me to see what color I am painting something 😂 When I paint I tape off and cover floor with drop cloth. Thanks Faith, yes the labor component was a lot and so if you had to pay someone it would be well over $500 but what I’m trying to show is you can do it on the cheap providing that you are willing to do a whole lot of work. I really do hope it helps them sell the house quickly 😀

Thanks so much Linda 😀 The primer I choose I couldn’t use in a spray gun so I had to brush and roll for the primer and then thought I should just continue using a brush and roller to show people they can definitely DIY it without needing any tools. 👍

I totally agree the window casing needs to be painted white so it blends in because right now that totally outdated orange colored oak is just popping out at you drawing your attention away from the clean, bright, beautiful, neutral update. Since your in- laws are selling, maybe you can talk them into letting you paint it. It will make a huge difference! You did a beautiful job both painted and explaining the process as you went along. I was also impressed that you painted inside of cabinets because alot of people don't. I guess they figure nobody can see it so why bother but it does make a difference. Each time you go into your cabinets it's such a good feeling that they are as clean & bright as the outside.

Jade, I am impressed! I am not a fan of painted cabinets, and I would NEVER attempt to paint a countertop! HOWEVER, your goal was maintain a $500 budget and prep for resell. I can't believe the transformation! This is incredible! I wish there was a tight close in shot of the surface of the tiles and countertop just to prove that it really looks professional and not a weekend warrior DIY job. Again, stunning transformation and a homerun!

Due to the nature of using rollers and brushes its literally impossible to not have the texture finish vs smooth. But it's a lot better than the previous look! (This is why I haven't attempted to paint my outdated oak cabinets- I want a sprayed finish)

Interesting that I see this now. I finished my kitchen but decided at the last minute not to paint the cabinet or doors because after sanding I noticed it was eucalyptus tree. So I sanded it all down and added protection. I painted the countertops only. Probably more work and I know that the wood possibly could change colour and that's ok if I don't like it I could always bleach it. I also painted the old yellowish pantry doors and OMG it looks stunning. Also changed hardware and like you I used black. At first I did it because I wasn't ready to spend money on a new kitchen but now I am so in love with my kitchen. I won't replace it 😂 I believe our next step in the kitchen is to replace the floor tiles.

It is always best to use delicate surface tape overlayed with painters tape to prep, already freshly painted, area to be caulked. This will give a crisp sharp edge. Excellent color palette and hardware choice. I am thinking, though, what about behind the stove. 😂 Overall nice result.

Nice job. A lot of tile stores have giant slabs of stone (quartz, marble, granite) called remnants. Remnants are way less expensive than what’s in the show room. The store will come out measure, cut and fit the stone to your kitchen needs. I’d probably update the kitchen in stages. I liked the honey colored cabinets.

i did the same thing to my kitchen. to the counters backsplash and cabinets for under 100. with spray paint gave the counters a marble look. it was so fun, satisfying, and honestly looks so insanely better!
