⛵️Refitting an abandoned sailboat is a lot of work!! 👫💪🏼

After fixing all the holes on the deck of our abandoned sailboat, it's time to assemble our ceiling back together!!
If you are new here... we are a Brazilian couple that have just bought a 44ft hot galvanized steel sailboat (Dinieper Tropic 1200) and is on the mission of bringing her back to life after 22 years abandoned on the hard. Once we are done, the plan is to sail her to our home town Florianópolis so we can finish building our land base, a Tiny Shipping Container House that we are building ourselves without any prior experience. Yes indeed, an Electric screw driver is exactly what you needed for all of those screws. They come with variable speeds so you won't harm the screw heads when loosing or tightening them. Love your enthusiasm kids and Roberta, you are so lovely and sweet!

Yes agree, a small Makitta drill with bit would make that screw removal so much faster. And remember expandable foam comes in various degrees of expansion (if you didn't know). I enjoy how much fun you two seem to have with this. If all couples could be as happy. I know not all the times are great,being in cramped quarters working but you two make it seem fun for us. I wish you well and don't forget to keep polishing those sailing skills. There will come a time you will want to ocean go in that thing. Can't wait for the launch.

That was smart painting the inside of the hatches. Anything you can do to keep the elements out is great. When I do spray foam I put a plastic bag inside first and then spray the foam inside the bag. I then trim the extra bag material away. The advantage to this is if you have to ever take it apart it is much easier because the spray foam does not stick. Keep up the great work and videos. Refiting a old boat is alot of work but owning an old boat even after a refit is also alot of work. Expeshally on a steel beast of a yacht you guys own. I own a 25 foot fiberglass trailer sailer from 1984 and i can never catch up with it lol. Good thing i enjoy i love working on her. As im sure you guys with your boat

Beware of using too much spray foam, it can exert quite a considerable force if you put too much into a hole where it's go no room to expand out ... less is often more, you can always squirt some extra in later ;)

I can’t believe this boat sat for 22 years without getting any bug, ant or termite infestation. Especially considering the warm humid climate you live in. I just find it amazing, considering there was food left in the cupboards. Looks like your having fun!
