y'know hearing the Cad/Fjord interactions in these songs again really made me think about the huge impact a couple of dice rolls in this game can have. I mean pen&paper as a medium is fascinating in that regard, if the stroke of bad luck/circumstance didn't kill off Molly then Caduceus would have never come into this group, Fjord would never engaged with the wildmother and might have become an entirely different character, perhaps turning into a fighter rather than a paladin, or a feylock of the traveler, or just returning to Okatoa. I mean all the characters on the show are interesting in their ways but I feel like their stories could more easily been just written to happen, Fjord exemplifies how the dice change the way stories are told in this medium. Great mix btw, really excited for what you're working on next.
@RedNeor4 жыл бұрын
There's also the chance that the Wildmother wouldn't have intefered if the last name "Stone" wasn't that important to Caduceus' backstory. She might have had no interest in someone with little to no connection to her. Just another factor to the huge coincidence.

@@autumnorange613 honestly that was the moment where Fjord was really embodying what it meant to be a warlock- he may of been ending the pact but it was that deepened awareness of that power dynamic that was just amazing and sooo warlock. "You need me more than I need you" is a really amazing aspect of the warlock class that is awesome to see roleplayed- realising that the being that gave you power gave it for a reason, because it needs someone to do tasks/accomplish goals that it cant. Realising that and flipping the power dynamic? Shivers, Fjord killed that one.

Fjord isn't the funniest member of the Mighty Nein, or the wisest, or the smartest, or the strongest, or even the best acted. But, despite all this, he will always be my favorite member of the m9.
@garrettmartin47504 жыл бұрын
It's that development as a character for me. He personifies change. It's really incredible. Fjord is my dude. From wanting power and not understanding where it comes from, to learning how to balance the power. I play a paladin myself, and as I RP, I try to make my paladin understand how to use his power. And not let it overwhelm him or overtake him. Fjord resonates with me so hardcore
@Selcryn4 жыл бұрын
I mean, he's pretty much the main straight man in the group, so he's not going to be the most anything, as he represents that part of us that says "wait... that's not normal!"
@copycrow44864 жыл бұрын
Fjord isn't even your typical Half-Orc. He's the runt of the litter, the butt of jokes. But his story is great, and so is he. When I first started watching I thought Fjord was just that, the butt end of some jokes. Until the heist, and he threatens Caleb for trying to take a scroll. He, Caleb, and Nott have a small stand-off, and he asks the question, "You're either with us, or you're on your own." He's sort of like a glue that keeps people together. A silent support. But he comes through when he really needs to. When he lost his powers, he wrestled a Remorhaz without any backup or magical gifts. And then once he was, Refjorged, and became a Paladin of the Wildmother. The Laughing Hand scene was amazing. As down in the comments of that episode, someone quoted Caduceus about someone, someday, somewhere, praying for a miracle.
@Ssatkan4 жыл бұрын
In a way he's (at least one of) the most "protagonist" of the Nein yet with both the Empire Kids as runner-ups. He really made the change from being reactive to proactive. He used to just be thrust into situations, Avantika taught him what that might lead to, he tried to avoid his fate, but was only able to shrug his curse by taking a real stand and making a decision for himself. If this campaign was a novel, his proactiveness / his faith still needed testing, but he would be the most likely POV character. All characters have a development, but Fjord's is the one that would make the best story. That's no insult to the others. RPG is a very different medium to storytelling to an audience in that every character has a player that also has their experiences and offers a perspective for viewers. Nott for instance is interesting to play, but as a protagonist in a novel, she would be rather dull, her goal is basically to change her outward appearance (I know, but the post is long enough as it is). Caduceus, despite his claims, basically has it all figured out, he's a mentor figure, not a protagonist, and so on. Yasha and Jester on the other hand aren't there yet, they might still get to this point of change.

I was just vibing and then 'These Things Happen' got me like a kick to the chest. I love the muffled, singsong voice that weaves into the rest of the melody. After a few songs where the music politely paused for each voice clip, this method was effective in creating a hazy, post-trauma shock that Fjord must have been feeling after Yasha's betrayal.
@MidnightHelena4 жыл бұрын
I'm blown away. Each song is so vivid and makes me feel like I'm playing CR as a game, there is so much atmosphere to each plot point and character. "Strange Dreams IV. Wander" hits the ground running, and I'm particularly fond of 'This Blood' where we hear from the half-orc in Rosohna that gave some desperate insight into Fjord's self-worth. Also "Those Things Happen" hit me like a sack of bricks, and I feel betrayed all over again from that arc. I think you really brought out Fjord's perspective with this song and the emotional weight he had from watching Yasha side against them, then questioning her motives. The other characters were more shocked in that moment, but Fjord had this eerily still mind where he went to a bitter place and that comes through in this piece. "With A Little Help From My Friends" is the next one that stands out for me because it's basically the theme of the campaign. How the rest of the party accepted him when he considered himself useless without powers, and admitted he was lying to them this whole time...the acceptance they give him is a spark that gives him hope in himself. Which leads into "Are You There Wildmother? It's Me, Fjord" and that god-tier Caduceus quote. And last but not least, I admit I teared up listening to "Serene Dreams III. Metamorphosis" once the happier version of the motif that started with "Strange Dreams I" on the previous album started playing. The mystery and darkness that is a part of Fjord is still there, but it's better, it's changing, it's healing. I just...I love character growth. And these albums have a lot of love put into them too. Great work!

Hey, Orange. I don't know if you'll see this, but I hope you do. We hear from our favorite channels, a lot, about how people come up to them to tell them that their content has helped them and even saved their lives, right? And about how they say that this kind of response gives purpose to their work. Well, I've been going through some of the darkest times of my life, while learning to live with myself. I have been having an awful time facing the dark parts of myself. I have com to understand that I have been toxic to myself, and have been losing my essence for years. And it's a dark place to be. Your rendition of We can remake ourselves has been... like finding renewed life in an old picture. The general feeling of the song has reminded me of... the struggle to be yourself. And why it's important. Being reminded of Fjord's words is powerful. "If you lose those things, then you can fall free." I can remake myself into something better, after all these years of mistreating myself. I just have to... find myself. Apologize. Make ammends. And be myself, again. In a sense, Orange, your work is saving my life. Thank you.

Back once again, and damn does Track 10 absolutely shake a man to the core. That subtle voice you have que'd in over the piano? With Matt's narration? Pffft. Masterful.

I come back to this music alll the time, thank you! My brain focuses when this kind of music is on, so I really appreciate it! Now season 2 has come to an end, it is keeping the wonderful stories fresh in my mind too.

So amazing. This is something that shows everything in his journey. It's so slow so subtle that you forget it's even happening.
