Hot Start Challenger 650 tutorial series
Looking at the importance of keeping the FMS track accurate even when being radar vectored, then leaning how to fly a go-around or missed approach with the automatic FO. Finally we set up the FMS for a very simple diversion.
Errors, Omissions, Clarifications:-
Clarification: Please ignore the MSG warning on the FMS - the in-flight state was saved for the previous video and the nav database had expired by the time this one was recorded.
Clarification: I said I was high, and then showed reducing(!) the VS and slowing down with spoilers. I didn't explain that very well! By slowing down it lets me get the flaps extended which is a much more effective way to increase the rate of descent and also means rather than altitude and speed, it's only the altitude I need to worry about.
Error: Don't use the APU for bleed air above FL150. This was done in the video to help to avoid distraction while looking at rate of descent over GIRVA.
The fine print:
It shouldn't need to be said, but please remember these videos are for recreational simulation and entertainment purposes, not real world flight instruction.
Unlike other videos on the channel, I have been given free access to the Hot Start Challenger 650 as a result of extensive participation in the beta program. My videos are not intended to be an outright promotion of the product, but rather as informative tutorials. No payment has been received for the creation of this content. Thanks to Sašo Kiselkov and Goran Matovina for inviting me to the program and for being so receptive to feedback.
