Wow! This would have been great 6 years ago. But, I really liked the explanation Pierre gives. Fantastic that he knew Alan.

I think he misunderstood Alan Watts. Of course, I am no "Master" so I may be wrong. I certainly am still learning ....lots of learning.

The watcher or witness is a transion phase. In single eye meditation, once we establish the witness to the flow of thoughts, feelings and sensations, we can then observe our Self observing the flow. This is called Self - observation. We can then be aware of being aware, wherein perceiver, perceiving and perceived are identical. This is our inner wholeness. Finally, we can be aware of being aware that I am, which is prior to what I am and who I am and is that from which they arise and that to which they return. This is the experience of the eternal mystery of Being, conceptually incomprehensible but easily known experientially. This is called Self - rememberng. The experience of oneself as a self - aware presence, a movement and a rest, is beyond ego, beyond conception. That I am is what and who I am. Who and what I am is that I am. An eternal mystery. Thou art that - I am. Breath control for jnana is effortlessly observing the outbreath gradually become longer and slower than the inbreath. This shifts the nervous system from beta to alpha. Meditation is effortless in alpha. One can then employ the alpha/theta dreamtime interface to dream one's experience and experience one's dream. Opening to the Spirit we can then receive to bestow the gifts of the Spirit : insight for the mind, inspiration and compassion for the heart, empowerment for the will and we'll - being for the body.
