Hi, thank you for posting. This is what I was looking for. Very beautiful. I want to build a reflection pool in my front yard to mirror my house. It will be large as I want it across the whole width of the house and most of the front yard. I want to leave a 3 foot sidewalk along the walls and want to incorporate floating steps to the entry. I want to know what is the minimum depth and what I should use at the bottom ( BLACK LINER OR ? ) to have it perfect mirror look. Do I have to add any black dyes so we dont see the bottom if up close. We do get lots of rain in fall and then the dyes will we washed away. If you can explain. Thank you.very much

Creating a reflection pool that mirrors your house is a great idea. To achieve the perfect mirror look, you'll need to consider a few factors: 1. Minimum Depth: The minimum depth of your reflection pool should be around 18 to 24 inches. This depth is necessary to create a stable reflective surface, as shallow water tends to be turbulent and less reflective. 2. Pool Bottom: To achieve a mirror-like reflection, consider using a dark-colored material for the pool bottom. A black liner is a good choice, as it will help minimize light penetration and create a more reflective surface. 3. Water Quality: It's important to maintain clean and clear water in your reflection pool. Regular maintenance, including filtration and water treatments, can help keep the water clear and reflective. 4. Dyes: While you can add black dyes to the water to enhance the mirror effect, as you mentioned, they may wash away with rain. Instead of dyes, focus on keeping the pool clean and using a dark bottom liner to maintain the reflection. 5. Pool Design: When incorporating floating steps to the entry, make sure they are designed to be stable and easy to use. They should not disrupt the water's surface too much. 6. Surroundings: Consider the surroundings of the pool, including landscaping and lighting, to create the best reflection effect. Overall, the key to achieving a perfect mirror look in your reflection pool is to maintain water quality, use a dark bottom liner, and ensure that the pool is deep enough for stability. Regular maintenance will be crucial to preserving the mirror effect, especially after rain.

@@Nature-aero Thank you very much for the reply and also clearing up the idea of using dyes, we live in rainy Vancouver Canada. I thought about the dye idea might be good if I did not want to see the bottom of the pool when close and still give that mirror look. But I'll be constantly adding that. So thank you very much for all the tips on keeping the water still, depth and filtration.
