@@shipwreck9146 We can never truly know if there was or is life on mars. It's best just to preserve the potential and not ruin it forever. It's really important that we're sure we didn't bring the life over from earth, and maybe we already have. Who knows? I think that it is perfectly acceptable to use harmless microbes to our advantage, however, it's also important to make sure it isn't going to be able to infect us. Although it is extremely unlikely that any bacteria or virus on Mars has evolved to infect multi-cellular organisms because - as far as we know - there aren't any on Mars. There is a tiny chance that some species did exist on Mars once when there was liquid water, and maybe there could be dormant diseases that do have the potential to infect

My wife is doing a project to bring some green to the nearby main street, and seed balls is one of the things that comes up all the time. But several experts have told her also, that although seed balls are a neat idea that can be fun to prep, they don't do nearly as well as actually planting the seeds. So in your case, I would have used a stick to poke a hole and jam the ball in. Doesn't save you any hiking though.

seed balls are for mass planting in wide areas, it takes less time and more seeds for the same result, but with a very wide area, time is what we lack

Hampus Ettehag Nothing to do with taste buds, capsaicin binds to the trpv receptors, which detect pain due to high temperatures. They do not detect taste, and are not taste buds. Birds, reptiles, fish, and amphibians have a different version of the trpv receptor, so capsaicin cannot bind to it. They do not experience *any* effect from capsaicin, because they do not have the receptor that it binds to at all.

Easier way to make seed balls: buy mini-ice cube trays or bath bomb molds, fill halfway , sprinkle seeds, fill the rest of the way, compress lightly. Shape doesn't really matter, and on steeper areas of the ranch an ice cube tray with a flat bottom would keep them from rolling downhill.

I felt he maybe should of buried them slightly. But that takes away from the fun. I doubt the survival rate is gonna be high though.

Gustavo Renó Going through the effort of making a clay mud ball for every individual seed is also time consuming. In Australia to revegetate large areas quickly you’d just buy a bunch of tubestock for cheap and in the winter use a drain spade for mass planting. Definitely more expensive than using seeds, but a way higher success rate and less effort.

After one year in the greenhouse they are ready to be planted on a field and after two years on the field they are ready for the Forrest. In Estonia that's how we do it. Cody, it seems as though the limiting factor for long term tree growth is fire, not seeding. Yes, I watched your video about low tree branches and dry grass, but your area has regular fires driven by the slope and wind. It would seem prudent to address fire breaks, in addition to seeding. I think, as others have expressed as well, that mature seedlings have the best chance, planted on the north face of every rise. Love your videos and congratulations on 1.7M!!! I do seed balls with my son every year. We spread our own mix of plants for our bees. He loves shooting them with slingshot and me spending time with him so win win😁

I can just see Cody building his next project, a giant catapult. 'Cody, What are you going to do with that?". Cody: "I am going to seed an entire acre in one shot". Then Cody shows the math for the FPS of the shot, dispersion, and angle needed. Yup. That's the Cody we know & love. Seriously Cody, I love your videos.

@@theCodyReeder I rechecked, and it turns out cow dung is much lower in nitrogen than other manures. I was mixing it up with chicken and pig manure that does burn plants.
