Those diamonds appeared to be around 0.10ct. It's hard to tell in the video but they were probably Imperfect grade i3M to i3O. That means they'd be around $40 - $75 a piece. They looked very pink in the video, and I counted 50 of them. So you'd have at least $2500 in diamonds if they were $50 a piece i3O quality. However, diamonds have an incredibly low resale value. So if you brought them in to a jewelry shop they'd probably give you less than $1000 for them all.
@CrimFerret6 жыл бұрын

What is i30? Do you mean I3? Even if they were D/I3 diamond max rap is 35 each, I don’t know where are pricing diamonds but you’re 100% wrong. Secondly, the diamonds are not even close to .10ct each. This is a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust, looks like a men’s 41mm. That means the bezel is approximately 128 mm around, with 50 diamonds the largest stones you could fit would be 2.5 mm each - or .05 carats. Lastly, this is a diamond bezel on a Rolex. Rolex is not going to use subpar I3 goods. These are almost 100% VS+ goods with G+ color. Quit spouting garbage.

@@hunterbrown9152 Rolex is the lowest grade haute horlogerie. They are just a click above ETA driven timepieces, which by some watchmakers are still considered better. Sketch1994 Go buy a Rolex and tell me what the goods look like. You won’t find I clarity goods in Cartier pieces, you won’t find them on a Rolex. It would diminish the appearance of value and luxury. People don’t buy a Rolex anymore because it keeps great time, I have a cell phone if I want to keep track of time. It’s conspicuous consumption, that’s it. I understand what you’re saying. The reason it is $7k, it not in the materials. It is in the craftsmanship and the quality. The gold Rolex uses is always 18K gold and the steel is a Rolex's own 904L steel, that is made to look ekstra special when polished. There is also the MOP dial with diamond hour marks and a fully encrusted bezel with diamonds, that of course adds up in the value. You also pay for the name Rolex, but that DateJust is actually worth a bit more than $7k, since their watches are highly sought of.
@DeedlyDood6 жыл бұрын

@@DeedlyDood More about the fact there have been around 10 different educated people working to make that watch. Also it takes around a year to complete the watch, that is also an expense you are paying for. The testing of the watch lasts a week. You are mostly paying for quality.

To recover the silver, you should have put the AgCl into NaOH solution until it turns black, forming Ag2O. Then add sugar and get a large exotherm. Result is silver powder. To prevent silver evaporating, melt borax in the crucible and drop the prewarmed silver into it. Regarding silver and ammonia: such solutions on standing form explosive mixtures, (solver azide) especially on standing!

Ladies TT Rolex Datejust with Jubilee Band. The center links, bezel, crown cap, hands, dial markers: 18K. Possibly Jewel settings and alloyed gear train. The case and outer links are 317L Stainless. The Diamonds are all very high quality VVS1. How many "Points" (diameter in mm)? 20? .20 karat? If you melted a full gold case and band (not two tone) you would have gotten $3k.

So if you placed that x-ray gun on someone and activated it, could you give them cancer? Also, would it just register a bunch of carbon and water?
@Bin2166 жыл бұрын
GameGuru No it isn’t that powerful a source of x-rays, but it is still not recommended. Also it is calibrated for elements which have intrinsic value. There isn’t much of a trade in scrap water or carbon, however being able to point it at a random bit of gold coloured metal and get an idea it is 18 karat gold (75%) or base metal (eg brass).
@graealex6 жыл бұрын
Yes. All light including and higher in energy than UVC has enough energy to knock off electrons from atoms, which gives it the name "ionizing radiation", and that will lead to cancer as it corrupts DNA. However, it's not as powerful as to penetrate materials very deeply, as it measures backscatter. It also seems very low in energy.
@m0n4rch9116 жыл бұрын
No clue how many xrays his xray does. But regardless it shouldn't be more than a normal hooman xray. It takes alot of energy to produce Radiation if wete talking about electronics.
@dlevi675 жыл бұрын
@Grenherb And your source for that preposterous claim ("cancer rates are at a[n] all time[s] high")? Is that why life expectancy keeps growing?
@kadmow5 жыл бұрын
NB. Energy, in terms of X-rays is represented by the scale showing keV. That determines/indicates how energetic the "beam" is. The Exposure -dose one would get ( in Sievert(s) or Gray(s)) depends on the Energy of the radiation, the power output (accelerator potential converted into X-ray flux) and exposure time (Sieverts take type of radiation into account).. It gets complicated, correlation with harm to biological tissue is not straightforward, risk is easier to determine than actual harm. Penetration is only correlated to the keV value of the x-ray, it has nothing to do with flux (afaik).

Does anyone have an educated guess about the value of those diamonds? I'm guessing there's 48 of them.
@toadfart95046 жыл бұрын
Hardly anything. Diamonds are only valuable due to artificial scarcity, so they don't sell for much on the secondary market.
@edwardbarton16806 жыл бұрын
From what I can find, there are 48 bezel diamonds, plus the 10 dial diamonds. Rolex doesn't like to give exact diamond info for their watches. They're probably 0.02 carat diamonds, supposedly of fairly high quality. They should weigh 0.22g total. If you were buying them (and it's hard to find prices for loose diamonds that small) you might pay $20 each. The diamond market being what it is, you might be able to sell them for $20 total.
@mrexclusive54066 жыл бұрын
Diamonds are worthless at that size. Even most pawn shops won't take em. 1 karat and up at a Leo grade might be worth something. The saying diamonds are forever is true. There is a an abundance of them and they don't go anywhere. Plus the industrial use for diamonds is very low. The only way to make real money with diamond is size. Most diamonds aren't large so to harvest larger diamonds means rarity which means money.
@chrisj1974386 жыл бұрын
Arbbym9er Diamonds are worthless. If you think I’m wrong go buy some from a jeweler then walk back in and attempt to sell them back. They won’t buy them from you or if they do you might get 5% what you had just paid. Total scam.
@rosen3806 жыл бұрын
@@chrisj197438 Assuming it wasn't a very specific custom job (ie a ring in a style that they sell a lot of), presumably they'd pay at most what it would cost for them to make the next one for the display case. I don't think they make ~95% profit, so I think 5% is way too low -- probably more in the range of 25-35%?

To get silver out of ammonia solution, you as use sodium dithionite (just like you used sodium metabisulfite for gold). I found a local chemical supplier who actually has sodium dithionite, so I can just crash the elemental silver out of solution instead of cementing (which produces copper metal waste) or doing the lye and sugar process. But the copper method works great.
