Reforging Old Pliers to Blacksmith Pliers

The process of manufacturing self-made Blacksmith's tongs and old pliers. This design I use for many years, it is convenient for forging knife blades.

Thank you for sharing. Good info. One suggestion I'd like to offer is that the washer with the rivet isn't serving any purpose. It is usually completely eliminated.

I've bought pliers similar to these on eBay. I think they were listed as gas stove pliers. They are pretty useful in the forge even without modification.

Do you mean for the heat treatment? It could be oil or water, depends on the sort of steel (which is determined in its datasheet).
