The definition of octane number is wrongly mentioned. It is stated as " The quality of a fuel in number that indicates the tendency of a fuel to resist compression in internal.combustion engine without detonation". I must rectify you. You can also define it as the tendency of a fuel to resist knock. It has two standard scales (isooctane which is arbitrarily assigned 100 and heptane which is arbitrarily assigned 0)
