Wow. What an illuminating discussion here. Illinois is really off on left field. Good to see that there are efforts to address this. What I want to know are the employees, management of IDOC being sued? Or outed by name?

We would think not, not would we wish for others to be outed. We prefer that personal information not be available for the public.

Now that the state of Wisconsin Supreme Court is no longer controlled by far-right conservatives will you be filing a lawsuit against Wisconsin State statue 30 1.48? This is a clear violation of the fourth fifth and Fourteenth Amendment. They claim the ankle monitor is not considered punishment. It is definitely not a fashion statement. The GPS tracker has made my life a living hell for the last four and a half years. If legislators do not believe it is punishment they need to try wearing one.

Thank you for this update on these legality issues for those on the sex offender registry. Here in Louisiana we are experiencing the exact same housing issue. I hope more states fight these situations. We have tried and tried to get our family member out within restrictions and denied by DOC for various reasons. Reasons such as un safe living conditions. Which is not legitimate. DOC seems to find any reason to deny these addresses. It’s unconstitutional!!

Finding housing is a major hurdle for registrants.
