Density does not increase wave velocity rather the increase in rigidity and incompressibility compensates for the density increase, and therefore the net effect is to increase wave velocities. You can see this by looking at the velocity equations for both p and s waves.

Is anyone else impressed with his circles?! I can barely make a straight line in digital ink, much less an almost perfect circle. 👏

I would say this is the best explanation to expalain refraction of seismic waves or any waves for that matter. Salute you. Thanks a lot

very useful,,,thanks very much. would you be able to add something about seismic wave propagation and ray theory, whenever you have time. not that we cant go through books but the way you explain is really awesome.

Another great video Mr. Khan. One quick question though. If this was the real earth, would the waves begin to curve back after they got through the center (because the material becomes less and less dense)?

Hi. How best can i do data quality control during acquisition? What are the look out things?

Khaaan llease sir ... There is a something y 'all didnt explain .the thing is how the S-waves reach the solid core even it can't go through liquid (the outer core ) it supose to stop !

Yeah but how do you calculate that angle

Don't seismic waves slow down with increasing density?
@kianjie238 жыл бұрын
Kinda super late on this but nope. Denser materials means more "molecules", which cause the waves to move faster because the interaction between each molecule is much faster and much quicker. Watch the 1st minute of the video, he explains this
