Seem's to me JD is the only driver that dislikes it. I have spent about 8 yrs. there with Sprint Cars with a low dollar team, helped on a want-to-be Late Model driver (the speed at Knoxville scared him) his dad is in the Knoxville Hall of Fame driver. Even set up a hobby stock for a Hobby Stock Speical Deal up there 1 year. Moyer-Bloomquist loved the Track. If I was a Late Model Team owner, I would rather hit that berm on the inside of the track then a concrete wall. Concrete JUNKS these throw away chassis that everybody is building now. When they started that Late Model race up there, the front Grandstands was close to being full. (they didn't have the stands then like now) JD needs to get a smarter pit crew or a smarter driver. You can go to any Dirt Track on Earth, Knoxville is #1 according to the Racers and Fans. They really have doctors and nurse's working at the races, they had their own fire truck. There track crew is the best there is. If that track was so bad why does every Sprint Car Driver keep showing up to race there. 90-100 cars every year at the Nationals. Funny Car Champion Ron Capps Loves Knoxville (he is a great Sprint Car Driver also) Real LM drivers raced there 2-3 wide all around the track there also.

Sprint Cars race 2-3 wide there all the time. Even on dry slick. You have to be a great driver and crew to win at Knoxville, The track crew is the best anywhere, Not sure on the L.M. deals but they have real Doctors and Nurse's work there for the Sprint Car Races every night. J.D. must prefer tracks like Canton Il. or Moberly Mo.(motor+tires win) Don't think you will see a $200,000 to win L.M. Nationals. Maybe the first night of them it MIGHT of been a tacky track but the night of the Real L.M. feature the track was Dry Slick Black. I know the family that takes care of that track and nobody does it better. Lots of tracks accross the USA send their track people there to learn from them. They used to set it up as a tacky track (no wing) but when the wings became Maditory in 1982 they started doing it as a dry slick track because motors started blowing up on the tacky track. I was working on a Sprint car their in them days. Knoxville is a Fairgrounds track owed by the State of Iowa. I have worked on race cars at over 100 tracks Iowa, Neb.,Ill., Ok.,and Mo.. Real Grandstand fans don't like Cry Babies. When the LM deal started at Knoxville they was getting around 10,000 people and lots of L.M.'s. Some Company come in and took over running the deal and didn't like following Knoxville Safety rules so in order to cut down the car count they said in their rules that you had to be a track champion or a (like a WoO Champion) to even show up and race there. They only allowed 60 cars that year and guess what happened? The local fans quit showing up because all of the local drivers couldn't race there, then the economy went bad. Rather then go to the low car count LM nationals, Go to the 360 and 410 Sprint Nationals then the Boone Super Nationals. (1032 A-Mods this year-bad year there is 500 A-Mods)

The only reason they have problems at them tracks is because they only race there 1 or 2 times a year. When L.M.'s went to the 4 bar and swing arm chassis- that give the teams and drivers so many adjustments that they over think everything and make their cars worst. 4-Bar Sprint Cars only have 4 chassis adjustment points plus the wing. L.M.'s has about 4-5 things on both sides of there rear ends to adjust plus the center of the rear end has a bunch of adjustments also. I preferred the mono leaf chassis more because they was simple to adjust and less breakable parts, Won 6 track championships in a row with one. When the big races came to town, we was a top 7 car every time even with our $4000 dollar motors. I did have a great driver-owner. We had offers from Major team owners but said no.

Watch Davenport 2023 he stood out there kicking tires for a LONG time, same thing with Jimmy Owens this year and then he gets whole nose ripped off. Quit driving throw-a-way chassis will cure that problem. You can only jack them up to work on in certain marked places on the chassis now, that started back in the 1990's and was outlawed but they allow that now.

It’s a sprint car track, and races like one. Late models put on terrible shows at 50% of tracks because they’ve ruined the design of them. If they can’t race their complete own line, they can’t race. Blame the chassis builders
@billschaefer3818Ай бұрын
Blame the teams not the chassis builders. You have to be a Great Driver and team at Knoxville to win a big race there. When Earl owned Eldora it was a one lane track at the top of the track come feature time. Tony has made Eldora a better track now. Eldora is not a 1/2 track. Tracks are measured 3 feet from the inside rail to be certified of their size. (FACT) I used to drive Harness Horse's and broke the World Record by 2 seconds for Pacer's on a fairgrounds track. They checked the track and it was 6 inches to long. I was paid the money for doing it but my or the horses name was never listed for doing it.
