I might be wrong but I don’t think you’re supposed to install the y branch upwards and downwards .. but very nice and clean work

Your VRF content is awesome man. Rather new in my area in the northeast having all kind of issues with compressor failures on unit. I'm convinced its oil return issues we installed the units from scratch. Two different brands of equipment and sites we are having the failures. I used to think the LG equipment was junk seems like the Toshiba carrier has more part failures. Hard trying to learn these units by yourself. The brand reps we have are not helping at all.

Stick with one unit and do not switch learn it like the back your hand it’s impossible for you become good at all of them unless you’re some sort of superhuman. Over the last 40 years I’ve learned one thing technology has changed so much you could know a little bit of everything but if you want to get good you have to get really good at one thing. Compressors do not die they get murdered. When my son and I lay out the piping we follow all the rules and procedures we use lasers we use levels. We follow the piping software that we put the information into we learned the piping software better than the distributors who are selling the equipment. You can oversize VRF units. If they’re grossly oversized and the compressor is always barely spinning and the inside air handler‘s are grossly over side so they’re barely feeding refrigerant that will cause problems That installation with lines can cause large oil traps. Not using nitrogen from beginning to end when brazing and correctly is the key all that black copper oxide not a good thing Not pulling a vacuum for 24 hours and forget what they say go the extra mile and bring it down well below 100 µm standing decay test after you shut off the vacuum source and it should stay there 15 minutes or a hour or more. I think I have one video on a 20 tons VRF system with multiple heads several hundred feet of copper. I had the vacuum pump at one end of the piping in the Micron Gauge at the furthest farthest air handler on a ball valve and I got it down to 13 µm. Clean dry and tight that’s the secret Unless it’s a girl then tight and clean and wet lol 😂

LG? I work in the city too, where's this at? I work mostly on Daikin VRV, does LG deploy a branch selector?

Yes but on this project they could not afford the heat recovery and branch selector It’s gonna be a lot more expensive and both labor and materials to add it in later At this facility they need redundant an extra Dehumidification in emergencies Going to use the branch selector box and the heat recovery feature with their Hydro unit to heat water for storage for hot water coils to be placed in front of the air handler‘s for reheat Dehumidification It’s going to be so much more work and labor and materials having to change pipe sizes to add that in later opening up the ductwork to add water coils that’s gonna be a whole Nother job in itself a project that will go on for a year. This project totals over 200 tons

That’s heat pump not heat recovery. There’s no branch boxes on your LATS diagram and you’re only using Y branches, so that’s heat pump not heat recovery.

It is a heat recovery unit on the roof. We don’t have the heat recovery hooked up yet for the reheat for de humidification that is coming later..
