Just did this fix today. Video was very helpful! Thanks! FYI -- I did have some difficulty removing the old hinge bearing, which had broken and did not want to come out of the door. Some needle-nose pilers eventually did the trick, but not without effort. Door action is nice and smooth now :-)

Thanks so much, I followed the video and was able to fix our kitchenAid refrigerator. The only difference is that once I removed the top screws, the door fell backwards! But it all worked out and I could never have done it without this video, so thanks again!

Hi, my refrigerator is a Frigidaire too and it makes a thumping noise, sorta goes up, and then kinda drops down when it's opening and closing. I thought it just needed to be adjusted but there doesn't seem to be any adjustment available. After watching your video I think it needs the repair you are doing and maybe the lower bearing and pin bearing that the fridge door mounts to should be replaced as well. Do you have a video showing repairs for all three?

You only demo 1/2 of the process. I had the lower part that has cracked and disintegrated from the door frame. It seems everyone wants to only show 1/2 of the process replace a 2 part system for the door closure!

I replaced upper and lower cam on bottom of door but they don’t line up exactly, works great but still bothers me, I’m thinking maybe pin is bent from using it with worn out cams. Any thoughts?

What happens often is the door may pop open instead of staying closed. There are 2 parts to the hinge. The lower part with the "hill and valleys" if you go around the outside edge of the cam. and a coordinating piece that is attached to the door bracket which has a similar "hill and valley" profile around the circumference of the cam. these two pieces meet together where the door mounted "Hill" will reach the door bracket cam's valley and thus keeps the door closed. If the door cam or the bracket cam wears the hill wears down and won't hold the door closed. Or the cam will crack as happened with the cam attached to the door bracket. I was irritated that they only show how to replace 1/2 of the 2 part system. But your refrigerator should have both pieces. If the one attached to the bracket and door frame is missing then it won't allow the door to frequently remain closed as the magnetic seal isn't strong enough to keep it closed with any slight movement or just the refrigerator kicking on can cause the door to open, but just a tiny bit (like 1/4") but that is enough to cause it to overwork the compressor for the refrigerator.

My “ hill and valleys “ don’t line up EXACTLY, close but not perfectly after replacing upper and lower cam. Why not? There is I metal pin that goes into bottom of door side, I think, could it be bent slightly? Repair works perfectly so far, wife is amazed, said it’s like a new refrigerator.

I have a refrigerator and when i first bought it, the door for the bottom part would open and would stay still at a certain point, now after my two year old has being opening it, it seems that the door won't stop until is open all the way more than it had in the past, is there a fix for this! If the noise is coming from the bottom door closure bearing is it the same part as the top door closure bearing?

Thats a super question and at one time they were the same top and bottom. A lot has changed in door designs so it is very possible that they are different. Many manufactures add a Cam style shape to the bearing to assist in the door closing solidily. best idea is to run your model number thru our site and refer to the parts breakdown to be sure.

Hiya, I already watched an earlier vid to repair a shelf pin in my same model fridge, and it was immensely helpful. So now I'm going to watch this vid and do another repair job. Thanks for making these vids. Question though. While I have Part #240328201, I also have another part, Part #240328401, and descriptions said it's another Door hinge pin. But you don't seem to have videos on applying that part and I don't know where it goes. I searched on the web on how to apply it, but no dice. Would you know where Part #240328401 goes?

I just replaced this on my Frigidaire refrigerator. The door bearing closure on the door had disintegrated. However the part on the chassis that fits against the closure bearing is different than the stated part. it is not screwed in but has a shank that slides in the hole. There is now a gap between the door bearing and the chassis hinge bearing wish is different form the freezer side which fit quite tight to each other. Can the height of the chassis bearing be adjusted to fit closer? It closes better now but if the tow were a little closer together I'd get a more forced closure for the door to seal.

***** I have a model #FRS6R5ESBF What I am finding id that I have between about a 1/8" - 1/4" gap between the door bearing and one on the hinge on the refrigerator door. Hence I do not get that forced close and seal. I've replaced the hinge, thinking it was bent, as well because my kids hang on it when their looking for goodies. But the gap is still the same.

My Frigidaire door seems to have this issue as well. When I open the refrigerator door it pops, and I looked at the bottom of the door and the hinge at the bottom of the door, (the part that lays flat on the metal surface), seems broken completely. My Frigidaire model is:FRS26LF7D57 and was manufactured 07/05 Can you please tell me exactly what part to order so I can fix this? I might as well get the parts for both the top and bottom of the door and for both doors, so if the left side breaks also I can fix it as well. (or just change both doors parts at the same time), thanks!

You should have 2 of the PS976594 closer plates as well as a PS976452 bottom hinge bearing for the fresh food door and a PS2358886 lower hinge bearing for the freezer door. You should also check the door stop for the fresh food door (PS817822) to verify that it is still intact.

There are a few things you can do to fix this problem. First have a look at the door hinges. Remove the hinge cap and loosen the hinge screws. Then align the door with the top of the refrigerator. Adjust only the top hinge to straighten the upper door. If that doesn't work then have a look at the freezer door gasket. Use a piece of paper and placing it at various points along the door. Close the door normally and slide the paper out. If the paper slides out without any resistance then the gasket is probably defective. Start there and let us know how you make out!

This doesn't solve my particular problem..My door, like every fridge door I ever had, when door is close enough to the body it doesn't do that cute little solo performance of slowly traveling, say, 25-35 Degrees (of a circle) all by itself to a complete closure, were I believe magnets take over..I.E. Door doesn't drift closed by itself after you've grabbed your yogurt....A reply to this post with the fix for THIS would be gratefully appreciated...Much thanks, Mark

partselect, i just bought a door hinge and installed it yesterday, it did not came with a bearing and the door squeaks when i open and close. do i need to buy a bearing? i thought everything was included when i bought the door hinge.my fridge is the same style as yours, brand is kitchen aid about 18 years old. are all fridge door hinge have bearings? maybe i need to buy the bearing seperately. the door works now but it squeaks, hinge same location as your fridge bottom side.

kitchen aid KSFS25FJWH00. i think i need a closing cam or something, the door hinge that i got goes straight to the door's hole so it is resting on the door surface without any protection like a gasket or something. thank you for responding. this is the part number that i got from repairclinic.com website 827151 this will show you the picture of the door hinge that i got. i think it's the closer door cam that i need, i t goes through the hole of the door so the hinge would ride on it.
