Great work, and thank you for showing the process for changing the platen's idler gear in detail - the one in my CE-150 has a cracked hub and as I didn't really follow what the single tooth adjustment was all about in the service manual (and as it prints OK for now) I decided to leave it well alone. Now that you've explained it that makes a lot more sense to me! Thank you again. 🙂

Oh, second cup of coffee this morning. Another amazing repair. Did Alps make thermal printers? Because pens are more rare then hens' teeth (stealing Birt axiom), was wondering if thermal head could be swapped in.

they had gameboy printer for graphic calculators?

Many calculators had printers available but none of them were the same as the Gameboy printer. Similar size is all.

You were lucky the pens still worked. These are hard to get. As far as I know only in Germany from a company specialized in (expensive) medical supplies. If anyone knows of another supplier, please let me know.

If you're in the USA then "Atari - Best Electronics" have pens but trying to organise payment and shipping from the USA turned out to be far too Byzantine a process for me in the UK. "YJX Shenzen Tulip Technology" also have some in stock and were able to provide me with an invoice but shipping from China makes it quite an expensive option too. As these are all new-old-stock I didn't fancy paying a lot of money to ship potentially dried-out pens half way around the world, so in the meantime I've made my own pens by cutting up gel pen refills.
