Quite a process...labor intensive and definitely a good amount of equipment investment.

Extremely informative and interesting. Strange that the all-black 431 wheels for the i3s cost more than the diamond cut ones when new.

It’s because of volumes. Most are diamond cut.

Oh my gosh...! For less than £100 per wheel, that is a HUGE amount of work to undertake...!! But what a fabulous end-product - absolutely beautiful job. Great video, Martin and it'll no doubt be reassuring to any future Wisely Automotive customers the attention to detail and effort that goes in to any refurbished alloys on your cars in stock. WOW... 😎

I’d love to know if the diamond cut finish is more durable if there was 2, 3 or even 4 coats of lacquer applied.

Pure craftmanship! We have to be carefull with these profi guys. The end product is truly beautifull. Thank you for uploading.

Curious to know how much it cost to have this done?
@wiselyauto9 ай бұрын
The price changes slightly depending on the finish, size of the wheel, etc. For the most up to date information, see the Alloy Fix website: alloy-fix.com/price-list/

Agree with all the other comments, I can fully appreciate the cost of such an exercise now. 👍

Question on tyres - given that they are an unusual size and the i3 is now out of production, will replacement tyres become hard to find or expensive? Is that an issue to consider when buying a used i3?
@wiselyauto9 ай бұрын
On the contrary, there are significantly more options for i3 tyres in 2024 than there were in 2014 when the car launched (Bridgestone only). With Michelin, Continental, Nankang and some Chinese budget brands all now supporting i3 sizes (and 250,000 ish cars worldwide to support), there shouldn’t be any tyre issues on the horizon!

This process looks quite expensive. What is the cost of a refurbishment, compared to buying a new rim at BMW?

£380 for 4 wheels

Diamond cut wheels are a pain and I don't even like the way they look despite both my current cars having them (one is an i3) Problem is that diamond cut wheels are designed to be cut so if you just paint them they look crap. Imagine having your wheels refurbished then curbing them straight away! Oh for the days of small wheels and big tyres!!

For non diamond-cut finish lovers, there’s always the style-427 wheel design (aka the bin lids!)
@RichardABW9 ай бұрын
@@wiselyautoIf the bin lids are painted black and diamond cut they look awesome. Does Wisely sell used/in need of refurb 427 wheels?
@wiselyauto9 ай бұрын
@@RichardABW we can supply 427s, but they would need to be attached to a car we are selling :P

@gap9992 Not so for i3 431 wheels. BMW Park Lane refurbished diamond cuts as gloss black on an i3s recently
