You are a beautiful young man with a big loving heart. I lost my 20 year son in 2017. Your feelings of guilt are perfectly normal. You where a young man living your life and everything you said is relative in reverse. We can never ever anticipate losing a loved one . As a mother it’s important for us to free our young adult children to live their lives and we respect boundaries. I am sure you did nothing wrong. I am sorry you had to live through the trauma of your mums loss , her illness and the uncertainty and insecurity it brought for you.I realize we are not in control of so much life is struggle for a of us. The heartache of Grief and loss is indescribable. . It’s very difficult to find acceptance and understanding and you Feel others can empathize with you. Allow yourself to grieve and give yourself permission to have bad days or moments. You where blessed to have your mum until the age of twenty . How blessed your mum was to have a very good and kind son. You are correct that many young people push Parents aside in their teens and young adult life. I admire your vulnerability and integrity . Your mums love and your love for her will always sustain you. How amazing that you are able to express your grief through your writing and your music. My daughters journey after her brothers death have paralleled yours . She was is amazing empath and got caught up with others who where suffering which lead to her using negative coping mechanisms. Thankfully she has been able to continue her university degree and artistic endeavours. I know your mother is very proud of you. May God Bless you abundantly and give you comfort and strength as you live your best life in honor of your mum.

I lost my mother at 13 to aids and there is nothing more devastating to a boy than the loss of his mother. I'm 44 and to think that It's 8 years more than she had is tragic. For a 36 yr old mother of 5 to have to face her mortality and the fact that she won't see her boys become men or her daughter become a woman had to be so damn hard for her.

Lost my father and my sister and as a family we don't talk about it. Growing up I was afraid to ask about my dad. Scared to cause my mom and family pain by asking or taking about it. And still at 38 I still am scared to talk about them to my family.

Wow! This episode was so good! I can relate to a lot of the things that Airick hit with his grieve and what he is talking about. I didnt start grieving my mom until 2.5 years ago and she has been gone 16 years this December.
