All reviews are paid advertisements these days! A faulty product with channel imbalance, buzz on headphone socket, music still being heard when volume is all the way down and not a bad review anywhere. Disgusting

Great review! I've been eyeing one of these amps ever since I demo'd a friend's (previous generation I think) Brio R. From everything I've read this new one is the same, but just a little bit more everything. Based on that $1500 seems like a great deal. The problem is that upgrading my amp at this point will inevitably lead to an upgrade in speakers, which will eventually cascade into upgrading turntables, carts, preamps, streamers etc. So really it's not a $1500 amp it's a $9000+ project. Among others I blame you guys for this problem/hobby. As always, though, great track selections! Both were new to me, and I can certainly see how the Brio would bring them to life! Edit - I'd actually really love it if rega built something exactly like the Brio with no phono stage, no headphone-out and maybe a few more watts per channel at around this price.

Had my Brio for about a year now, and absolutely love it! I bought it precisely because of everything you guys just said, the simplicity, the small size, the musicality, etc. It’s built like a little tank too. In this price range, I think it’s pretty hard to beat. The other main thing that sold me was the great built in phono stage that everybody talks about, it really is that good. I’m running it thru the Wharfedale Denton 85s and it definitely packs a nice punch in my 11’ x 10’ listening room, never fatiguing, just sweet music. To give it even more bang for the buck, I got mine open box for $700 USD. So yeah, I’m more than happy with mine. Thx for the great video guys. Happy Holidays!

My buddy bought one of these a couple years back. I wasn't overly impressed but factors other than the amp were influencing the sound quality. Anyways, couple months back I gifted him a very basic Schiit Dac. Went over to watch the Super Bowl the other day and before the game he sparked up the Brio with the Dac. Wow!!! was I ever impressed !!!!!!!! The amp almost sounded like pure Class A but yet it is a Class A/B. Did some checking and others feel the same way. I think this little amp is an absolute hidden gem and a price bargain champ for the quality of the build. Thanks for the video guys.

Great video Guys! I know I’m comparing apples and oranges- would you choose the Brio over a Bluesound Powernnode or NAD C700 (just on the basis of sound quality)? Thanks Guys, great channel!
@Hifyed
@Hifyed Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Your right that is apples to oranges. It really becomes a matter of taste the brio being a class ab design is going to sound quite different than the powernode or c700. If you like a leaner low distortion more “accurate” sounding amp go with Nad. If you like a punchy, rounded sound with a richer feeling of mids and highs the rega. Hopefully you will have chance to listen to both and see what you like best.

@@Hifyed Thank you! And agree, it’s a matter of preference with so many options at this price range.

Currently own one deployed in an office system. It has been a great piece of technology for that use/space. I would agree it is not the last word in definition, nor feature rich with built in DAC and such. However, even at low volume it remains full and very natural sounding. Its biggest plus is its very forgiving of the far too many not-so-great recordings.

My experience too, except with the Elex. I would add that Elex is also a bit polite. I notice not because music feels held back. More because with Klipsh Heresys do not sound overtly bright or as unrefined as they can with other amps. I've seen & heard the Brio matched with Heresys too where this forgiving character comes into play.

Its not pronounced re ga. Its pronounced ree ga. Short from the word regal pronounced ree gal. The pronouniation is from the founder Roy Gandy.

Doesn’t matter. It will always be Rega. Regardless of how you pronounce it. In my case that’s Ray-Gah. I went for the io in the end.

@@duntrolling8876 Nice choice. I finally managed to obtain the Rega 50th Anniversary Turntable. Well pleased with it. Sadly, it is now 2024, so is no longer available as it was only on sale during 2023.

I have an older gen Rega Brio-R, and it’s also a terrific little amp. It’s paired with a Chord Mojo Dac and running Q Acoustics 3030i’s on the QA dedicated stands. I really like it. Btw, the lifetime warranty only applies to folks in the UK. In the US, it’s a 3 year limited warranty.

Thank you for sharing! You got an awesome system. Also thanks for clarifying the warranty I knew it was to good to be true for us in North America 😉.

A couple of weeks ago I checked out Bryston and the first thing that popped up on their site was an integrated amp I believe - something like $14,000, never bothered checking out their speakers, I just booked out.

I'm a huge Rega fan. I have their last gen Elexr and Rega p3. The Elex was the first amp I truly fell in love with & still find amazing after 6 years , and I think I could have easily found the Brio as satisfying. I will say they have the tendency to run hot. I found it helps to get them up on blocks or open frame riser. I've used both Klisch Heresys with them & Spendors and both sound great with a wide variety of music, even at lower listening levels.

As an update * I just picked one of these up second hand from a friend. This review is spot on. Two things really stand out fir me: 1. This thing just performs at almost any volume including really low volumes. Unlike many amps I've had or tried, it is well resolved and dynamic pretty much regardless of gain. There's not really a "sweet spot". 2. It's incredibly versatile and lends itself really well to all types of music while also being pretty forgiving of a wide variety in quality of recording. * with apologies for not buying from you guys/I swear I'll start doing so again more just as soon as certain friends stop upgrading their stuff and leaving me with opportunities for amazing hand-me-down deals.
