What a cool idea all the storage now gonna be alot more Usable with outboards now great job

The transom will require strengthening to handle the weight and force of outboard motors. Stern drives exert their force more onto the stringers of the boat.
@marriagepartnersministry5942 Жыл бұрын
Is the forward force transfered thru the outdrive to the motor and to the motor mounts that bolt to stringers or is the forward force transfered from the outdrive to the transom itself?

All the glass particles, mate you should wear a dust mask?? Great work though 👍

The best thing that you can do is conversion to outboard 100% 👍

You could have used the same drive holes with a aluminium dive bored for the outboards

Damn that's a really tall boat

Wow, you really should wear a mask while sanding glass!

That's what I started doing to my old Thunderbird, wish you had shown exactly how you filled those holes... I have one hole - center - and was considering an outside patch.
@abouttimeboating96702 жыл бұрын
I laminated with mat and resin marine plywood on the inside across the transom. Then from the outside I screwed marine plywood laminated with resin and mat to fiil. Used 2 3/4 marine plywood.

The bracket has to be a certain height its got to be higher than the original height you have to check with the manufacturer for information

Good job Captain. Is that bracket for twin outboards?
@whoshunter5230 Жыл бұрын
Looks like it too me, but I could be wrong
@etothelij Жыл бұрын
For structure would it be better to build up from smaller to bigger pieces, and then feather to outside the holes you're patching, or does the inside wood you put pretty much take care of that?
@abouttimeboating9670 Жыл бұрын
the wood from the inside takes care of that.

whats the upside of such a conversion. The motors are hyper-expensive from what i saw.
@abouttimeboating9670 Жыл бұрын
Outboards are more dependable, fuel efficient, and now I have all the storage space where the inboard were. Also, gas inboards are dangerous inside the boat.
@hirthirthirt1693 Жыл бұрын
@@abouttimeboating9670 thanks for the answer. How much more efficient are they. I guy on KZbin commented that he runs now 7hours on the fuel he need in one hour with twin inboard-V8s....how come, Sir?
@hirthirthirt1693 Жыл бұрын
@@abouttimeboating9670 I would not need any more storage-space but to fit more people in the boat would rock enough
@VH-vlogs2 жыл бұрын
why would anyone in their right mine do this type of conversion on a boat of this type
@probiethetank88252 жыл бұрын
Comes down to cost and/or preference I imagine. Maybe it’s about a long term maintenance prospective. That’s purely speculation though…

Because outboards are better than inboards simple....

If the impeller on a stern drive goes, in fact, if anything on a stern drive goes, you’re pulling the boat out of the water for repairs. If you’re in salt water, a stern drive is basically bathing in salt while an outboard can be raised out of the water and flushed. In cold climates, it’s easier to winterize an outboard, even in the water. Working in a tight bilge is a pain compared to the power head (spark plugs, etc) are right up top on an outboard. But basically, he probably did this because he could!
@stevemason53482 жыл бұрын
Apart from the fact that inboards on an outdrive are total grief petrol inboards are a time bomb waiting to go off. I got a 27 foot SeaRay and planning to put twin outboards on the back
@VH-vlogs2 жыл бұрын
@@stevemason5348 I have to say that any engine is a time bomb, and if I may ask, how does an outboard run, does it use water, justa a comment because you stay petrol inboard, outboards are petrol as well, gas tanks for both are inside the boat, so its the same difference, if they are going to blow up they will blow up
