I am a member of the Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma and a combat vet of 5 deployments as a Marine Rifleman. My great grandfathers, papaw, two Uncles all combat vets from WW1 WWII, Korea, Vietnam. My papaw told me, that being a warrior means you sacrifice for the ones you love. When my son was diagnosed type one diabetic, he spent two weeks in Children's Hospital and while he was in the hospital he made friends with a kid his age who was under going chemotherapy because he had a type of cancer. My son his hair he always has grown it long and when we were leaving he asked if he would be able to donate his hair for his buddy so they could make a wig for him. Two days after we left there they made an appointment to cut his hair and make his buddy a wig. He said I have to do my part as a warrior so my friend feels OK with who he is. They are still buddies to this day. The young man beat his cancer and wore his wig for 8 months.

That is a beautiful story thank you for sharing. I have some MC gigs coming up at a few powwows in NY and PA in the fall. Is it okay for me to tell your story at these powwows as it is inspiring and moving? I think a lot of people would benefit from your son's example. Thank you again.
